My wife's grandfather had his own entrance from the bottom of the garden into the ground where Essex played a number of matches each year. He would go and meet up with his old cronies, put the world to rights with them, then at the end of play go home and tell those who would listen how players were not as good as they used to be. Morning all, we are on orange alert for not storms, wind or floods, but extreme heat. I went out quite early and already it was 33°C. The forecast for this afternoon is that it will reach 39°C. It does bring out the best in people though as they check up on the elderly, making sure that they have means to keep cool. It is the retirement homes that have suffered in the past because of staff shortages with it being the holiday season. Hope that all went well yesterday Leo.
Thanks OFH - yesterday went very well - the cancer is still stable and the latest imaging of Mrs L's heart clot showed that it also had not increased as was thought from her last MRI scan. Relieved would be a very large understatement. Shame she cannot drink any more - I had to have two Whiskies to compensate
9.45 pm and it has just cooled enough to think about cooking a bit of dinner. It says something about the heat when I spend most of the day stationary and drinking cold water.
Completely different days when walking home. Yesterday was a very dry heat, not even a sea breeze as I went by the harbour. Today it is just so humid, if the storm one of my colleagues mentioned today comes it would be a great relief.
I have been laying sod all day ,It was 39c for most of the time ,Then in rained for 10 min dropped to 38c then up to 42c killer
