Mean to read his autobiog where he rubbishes City. I know he slags off Cheatham as looking like a 'bouffanted Cavalier' but dunno what else he says.
Hopefully Wembley won't be half empty at half time like the Stadium of ****e was when Allardyce's team regularly capitulated in the first half.
Nothing against Allardyce, just his style of football will be a backwards step for the national side. I'm not against going for experienced sage. I just think we've really missed a trick on going for someone younger with a more positive footballing outlook like Howe at Bournemouth. But he apparently ruled himself out - Someone along those lines anyway. The FA needs a bloody good shake up as well - it's those cretins that keep on appointing people that will just continue to follow the same well trodden path. The only bonus being Sunderland are another prime candidate for the bottom three
Surely the likes of Jack Wilshire have it all to do if they have any international future under Big Sam. I'm looking forward to watching the whole England thing unfold for the first time in a very long time.
But that's it. There was **** all choice. It's Allardyce with hoofball tactics and Carroll up front, Bruce with no strikers in the squad and a front two of whichever two wingers are the smallest, weakest and worst with their back to goal, and let's not forget he's not had a great season with us. Did the job eventually and fair play to him but if a City manager was ever going to leave for the England job you'd think it would be after a brilliant season where we're all devastated to see him go, not after a season where there were regular calls for him to be sacked. Anyway. Klinsmann? Foreign, might have been decent I dunno but ideally you'd want English. Howe hasn't done a lot in the game yet and his time at Burnley didn't end well. There's question marks over his ability to do it in a bigger job. Could have taken the gamble but that's what it would have been. There really weren't any standout candidates. I guess Allardyce will show a bit more passion than Hodgson but I'm sure the media and public will find something else to have an issue with.
Only from the same arseholes who hated Phil Brown, and who demand 'entertaining' football. They betray their roots as Sky-weaned, ex armchair Big 4 fans.
And when Hodgson was appointed some people wanted Redknapp which led to them being against him from the start. The biggest problem England managers and the national team in general have is everyone being against them. The pressure always gets the better of them eventually. To give him the best chance possible he needs to be supported and at least given a chance to **** it up before we moan too much.
Very telling. Fact is that there were no outstanding candidates likely to take the job. Slim pickings. I'm no massive fan of allardyce but under the current circumstances, I cannot criticise the appointment. But seriously, go on, tell us who you would want in the job, go on, be bold!! Nigel Pearson for me - say what you want
In addition, at Burnley Howe signed the following players: Austin Ings Trippier Shackell Vokes Mee Not a bad haul that in 12 months! At Bournemouth he signed: Arter Pugh Ritchie Kermorgant Wilson In two spells at Bournemouth he has taken them through all 4 divisions, the managerial equivalent of Ian Ashbee (albeit in two spells) He also kept them up comfortably last year in the PL - despite an injury hit start to PL life similar to ours.
There was if they'd got their arse in gear 6 months ago - Jose. It was the right timing for both parties, that probably won't happen again.
Sometimes it requires bold decisions to encourage change, this is not bold nor will it change what we know.
But this is why allardyce is probably a decent appointment. He will not given a ****about what people think and hopefully will Instill the same in the team. The brand of football is possibly less important than it will ever be for an England manager, the character is everything. If he breaks the cycle of failure at tournaments, he will be a massive success.
