It'll be Phelan, it always was going to be Phelan.

I understand that Phelan's not overly popular at the club, even with Bruce, so I'd be surprised if he was asked to step up.

Pennock is very popular, but I'm not sure he'd want the gig.

    No.
What's embarrassing is some 'fans' of this club sneering at the idea that a Hull City manager could manage England.

I just heard a clip of him on the radio, he sounds desperate for the job.

I'm sure he was hoping for the club to be sold and be given a sizeable transfer budget - now he's just got more of the same old **** and to make matters worse, four players out / sorry three that have any bearing on the season and not much sign of activity - the Allams are going to have to spend big to preserve their £100 million - if Carlsberg did **** ups, the Allams would be top of the pile

I'm a big SB fan! But no way could he pit his wits against the international elite! How many times have we shaken our heads at his team selections & formations? Stick to what you kno best Steve! And remember no one leaves the England job with their reputation intact!
Edit (Alf & Bobby ) an exception!

Bobby got called all the ****s after Euro 88, most people wanted him out after we lost all 3 games.
Alf got sacked in 73 after we failed to qualify for WC74.

Yeah but out of the lot! You'd say them 2 and maybe tel? Who should have won the euros! Even SB's Mrs must be thinking is it worth it?

You can't top winning the WC, but Alf is still rubbished for dispensing with wingers. He managed to get a job at Brum after 73 and did nowt there.
Think SB must be at the cross roads...and the England route probably looks better than working for the dumb ****s who employ him.

He currently drives 75,000 miles a year (tip: try moving the family up to Hull ) so maybe his new job would also mean less time on the motorways.

Of course he's desperate. It's the best job he'll ever be linked with and he'd give his right arm to be out of our freak show.

I wish him all the best but think his best chance would be working alongside Allardyce. Things are so bad for him here I could see him doing that.

BobbY? Do you not remember the horrific abuse he got from all quarters for signing a deal with PSV ahead of the 1990 world cup?

I could see him even managing the Wembley car park on match days to get out of this car crash.

Well he did. And as stated by City Man, it was really bad in the 86 group stages and again at 88.

That's my point! Even the semi successful get a hard time! So I could see SB headlines already!

Surely its impossible to get a hard time if you only have a semi?

Who's sneering? I made the ****ing thread! I'm suggesting that having our manager basically begging for them to select him reflects poorly on us. Allardyce is holding his silence from what I've seen. I'm not commenting on Bruce's ambitions, I'm commenting on the state of our club.

Personally I'd like Bruce to go now regardless.

He would have walked away had we not got promotion, the only reason he stuck around is for the premier league, to me that's not enough, you need genuine desire and passion for the club to be successful. Now his head has been turned (understandably so) by England, if he gets that job then great, he's earned it, if he doesn't he's going to be bitterly disappointed and will resent coming back here. He was indifferent to our club before now, imagine how less engaged he'll be having missed out on the job of a lifetime.

For me its time to move on, I'm a big fan of Bruce and am grateful for all he's achieved with us, but its ran its course now and a fresh start for both parties is what's needed.
