That's pretty good. I remember seasons when one would look down the table prior to the first match and we'd be practically amongst the relegation places. Arsenal have always had nowhere to go but down. ;)

For all the talk about the resurgence of southern teams over the past few years, not enough attention has been paid to the growing alphabetical divide. The solid middle tier -- your Newcastles, Norwichs, QPRs -- are gone entirely, leaving us wedged up against Middlesbrough. Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday begins the season in the drop zone in a 24-team league, shunted to the bottom by the roughly 23 teams whose names begin with the letter B.

There's just no balance in the modern game.

All I'll say is Hahahahahaha, lol at the spammers...just as well watch games from my house in Wiltshire. Football grounds just dont work with an athletics track unless they can cover the whole thing up and start the seating near the bloody grass.
50000 people in that big, open bowl will create no atmosphere as the sound will just go straight up.

Fair enough then...I'd like to see it in action though because I can't visualise how the system will work from the pictures. Where does the retractable seating go when its not being used, because it seems to me that there would be a very shallow angle up the stands which would still put the majority of the seats miles away from the pitch. Unless the entire stand either end slides forward, I just can't picture how it brings the fans nearer to the action.
Not being a stadium architect though, I'm probably missing something obvious and it'll all be fab for the fans.
Still need binoculars from the back of either end, regardless of how they convert for football matches.

Negredo to Boro for a season loan is a great move for them, always thought he deserved more starts at City, quality player.

Good job the spam season tickets are cheap, with the money saved they can buy a decent pair of binoculars

Man City did a rather clever thing, when taking over the Manchester Commonwealth Games stadium. They lowered the competition surface by several feet [think I've read 20ft in the past, but can't quite remember], which meant that the additional seating that would have covered the athletics track was able to keep to a steady downward angle consistent with stadium stands. The athletics track was taken up and relaid at other stadiums with worn out sections. Now if WHU did the same thing, but lowered the athletics tracks as well, as they have to keep it, they could keep the angle of seating from existing stand level to pitchside. Will they.? Shouldn't think so. That would actually cost them some money.
