They didn't sack them, they were self-employed, they reduced the Council funding from seven coaches to three. And plenty have been lambasting the Council over doing it, you can sign up if you like - http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-the-coaches-at-hull-ice-arena
Yeah I missed a few then It seems they manage to piss off everyone they come across. I have to give them credit as that actually takes some doing.
splitting hairs again are we ? They are no longer working at the Ice Arena and hundreds of kids have been effected. That's my point. As for the Airco if those using it had of been paying the going rate for it the case for them continuing to do so would have been a lot stronger but the facts, hard as it is for some to take, is that it was losing money. Also the club did help, even though the offer was refused in some cases, to rehouse those effected at the Airco. Where as the Council just pulled the plug on the Ice Arena coaches.
You might be aware but we're in times of austerity. Councils have had their budgets slashed by huge amounts. I'm surprised the council didnt get rid of all the coaches. The Allams on the other hand, have done everything they have done through sheer spite.
The sacking of the ice hockey coaches has nothing to do with the Allams. It was done at the behest of the Tory/Liberal and Tory governments who massively cut the amount of our money they gave to local councils. The Labour Council have no backbone, yes I'll give you that. Although the unions have organised a number of anti-cuts demonstrations so someone has been lambasting them.
The Government told HCC to get rid of the ice hockey coaches? The council have no choice in what services they choose to cut over others? Anyway, weren't the coaches self employed?
The money paid by Hull City and Hull FC to the SMC was meant to subsidise a community facility, so it was intended to loss money. It was part of the reason the SMC only have to pay a peppercorn rent to Hull City Council. If the Council had any backbone they'd rip up the lease.
That's because the two previous Labour Governments (ignoring 1997-2001 as they were rather prudent) over borrowed. No politics I know so that's me done on this.
No the government didn't tell them to sack the ice hockey coaches. Currently the government have told Hull City Council to cut £30 million from its budget. They'll leave it to the Council who to sack and what services to cut. Hull City Councillors will moan its not fair and do as they are told. Like I said no backbone. What difference does them being self-employed make?
I'm not attempting to deflect anything. I'm just sick to death of it all. Burnys doing it to death on RH at mo and with a new Premier League almost upon us the whole atmosphere surrounding the club resembles a funeral wake. We are in danger of talking us down before a ball has been kicked.
Everything the Airco and it's carpet of pretend grass brings to the city is bigger for the younger generations than anything that went on in there before.
I'm just wondering why you'd think it would make any difference to me whether the ice arena coaches were on the books or not. A cut is a cut, it doesn't make any difference what the employment status of the person is.
I think David Camron and Assem Allam have conspired to deprive youngsters in Hull of opportunities. They want to privatise the city and sell it to Scotland. They're just beginning the settling in process.
