    He won't regret it if Everton get top four in the next few years. Let's hope that Everton in the CL doesn't materialise and Walsh oversees some turkeys, and lives to regret never having been involved in CL football. Still, he'll be well compensated for that.

    Yeah. I'm honestly surprised that Leicester rejected the approach; I thought that it was an unwritten rule that you do not stand in the way of promotions for backroom staff.

    Normally I would agree, as this isn't just about more money but what also sounds like a promotion. And he has personal reasons to want it as it is apparently closer to his family.

    But I can also see Leicester's side of things because of the timing. The guy just signed a new contract so they were counting on him, and most of all now in the midst of transfer season.

    I don't know if this actually happened, but I think it would be fair for Leicester to say to Walsh and Everton "If you still want to do this after the transfer season, we'll talk but not right now."

    He has done a fantastic job for them and unearthed quite a few gems. I think there recruitment certainly last summer was better than ours

    Suggestion that Cuco Martini will be replaced. As he is on such a short contract (being a stop gap), he would have been offered a new one if we seek to keep him, so we will soon know. He turned in some good performances towards the end of the season when the team produced some good results, but we probably need an improvement in that area. If it was left to me I'd keep him as a pet...I'm no good at this sacking lark....he's got such a nice face. Be grateful I'm not in the recruitment department. :)

    Huth was there on loan from the previous January. If Huth was included for example, would we say that is better recruitment than VvD and what would we have said last summer if we signed Huth and they signed VvD?

    We would have said how commanding at defending Huth is, particularly in the air and that was exactly what we needed.

    Virgil would have been a pretty boy defender who was untested in the EPL.

    Oh, the fickleness...

    To be honest it feels like Ron's departure all over again. Initial 'No' followed by realisation that having a reluctant incumbent would damage everybody's interests.

    One of our most improved players last term. With a year left people will write him off, but I bet you when he gets an opportunity he does well. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a one year ext.

    Are you being serious?

    Leicester managed to sign last season's Vieira and Bergkamp, for less than 10 million combined. And they won the title. I'd say thats probably the greatest recruitment of the Premier League era.
