Sounds like Jack Corkism to me.. He played well when Saints played well.... Suspect, but hope I'm wrong, Clasie was not an upgrade. When we are not playing well you need a Morgan. The Toby comparision doesn't add up. The man was Colin Todd reincarnate, always recognised as being cool and tidy along side a dominant centre back. This leaves me to summise that Jose doesn't mind whether he is the dominant centre back or the man who clears up. Far be for me to support Liverpool history, but the Lawrenson, Hansen axis at the centre of that defence was a blueprint that has never been repeated. Jose/Toby could have..

I guess Clasie was koemans man so he will have to work hard now to prove he is worth a place.

If our policy is to buy young talent then we have to accept most won't be particularly impressive for a season or two especially if they are from abroad.

Then we might get 1 or 2 good years out of them before they are sold

But we cannot judge the likes of Clasie and cedric on a first season, it's absurd; even top class players take time to adjust in the prem

The Toby comparison adds up to me, because it was purely about him not being so visible and I believe that Clasie is often like that. I am not saying he was fantastic, but I do believe that some fans just don't see what he does, sometimes without even touching the ball. It is often him forcing the opposition back simply by closing down.

Bottom line is simple. Some people think he offers something, others don't. No big deal for me.

They really think they're something else don't they. It could nearly be enough for me to want Liverpool to do well just to piss that lot off..... nearly :)

Who would leave Leicester as a coach with European football against the big boys on the way, to join an everton side who lets face it aren't even guranteed a top half finish this season.

Someone who is on more of a 'normal persons's ' wage who suddenly gets offered a significant pay rise.

Will be what Everton are banking on

Yeah. His salary probably measured in years not weeks.

It took Clasie most of last season to get himself fit for 90 mins in the PL, which for someone in his position is a big issue. Hopefully he`ll hit the ground running (pun !) this season.

I'd rather coach in the champions league and earn a good wage, over earning double the amount everytime.

CM is the one position managers normally freshen up with a sub, if he runs his nuts off for 60 minutes and then gets subbed I have no problem with that, we have the depth and last season Vic was the one covering less ground so was fresher. Claise gets up and down the pitch and adds that calmness that good players seem to have

The job offered to Walsh is that of football director....surely that's a promotion.

Easy to say when it ain't your thing.

Let's hypothetically say you earn £25k/year and a company doing what your company does, offers you £50k/year. All of your out goings will be geared to your current salary and your wife/girlfriend/mother is not going to let you walk away form a double your money from a "normal" salary.

We now know it is money that is the ultimate draw. The Chinese league has seen to that, and examples like Kante to Chelsea. Purely money. Yes, he has the possible prospect of Champions League starting after the coming season, but he has turned down the Leicester adventure for money. Honestly, I hope they discover someone else and don't need him. If they can find him from practically nowhere they can find someone else.

Indeed. I find it harder to begrudge the backroom men like Walsh. The wages offered can be so vastly different, unlike some players who rock the boat for an extra 15%.
Hope he stays though, as I'm a dreamer at heart.
