50/50 is quite high seeing as we've only had him a year and he played a decent part in the season.

We signed Clasie for £8m. I think he's performed like an £8m midfielder. I think that's his base level. No dramas

We will see him under far more pressure to keep a place in the starting line up now The Lying Dutchman has gone as JWP and Harrison Reed will get a better chance to compete as well as our new Great Dane. Hope he gets another season to prove himself personally

I hope we loan Reed out. Hojberg, JWP, Clasie and Romeu are all ahead of him.

IMO Clasie and JWP don't play the same position. JWP can't tackle, and while his overall defense is improving, it's still a bit weak.

If I *had* to let go of either Clasie or JWP, it'd be JWP. I think we will bring someone in to compete at that position, and JWP will wind up being third choice.

But I'd rather keep them both. As long as Clasie is okay knowing he's fighting for a spot and could end up on the bench a little more than he'd like. I think there is still enough game time available for any of the mids to step up (including Reed) and grab a starting spot. Keep them all, and assess after the season.

Before him it was Scott Parker. So underrated he's overrated.

If we play 4-3-3 we need him.

Well Davis will also be one of the three. So we can loan him out but recall him if needed.

Davis, Prowse, Romeu, Clasie, Hojberg and Reed. 2 players for every position. We have a lot of fixtures this season so he will get games.

Can't think of Scott Parker without remembering the two worldies he scored against us at St Marys after we'd been 2-0 up.

Absolutely this! A lot of football fans don't realise the value in someone they don't see.

I remember two seasons ago when I started waxing lyrical about Toby whatshisname after about 6-8 games of his. I even said he was the best CB I had seen for many years at Saints. I also remember having to justify that opinion on the forum because others hadn't seen it. Toby's strength was not being notice in a game.

Clearly he is **** now though :)

Good signing for them if he performs , could still make a steady premier league player.

Shame it never worked out with is, he shows glimpses, but he's more suited to italian football or la liga, I think he'd smash it at a club like Valencia in Spain.

Mind you, he could split a defence like, er...The Red Sea (I'm wearing my coat, despite the heat...)

I feel like recall clauses are not very useful nowadays.

Saints will want to loan Reed to a team where he will play a big role. But if the team is counting on Reed to play a big role, they won't want to take him and play him knowing he could be taken away from them at any moment.

And in fact, the better their judgment and the better Reed plays and the more important he becomes, the more likely it is they lose him.

The only way you will get a recall clause if if the team doesn't really care that much about the player to worry about losing him. Which means he will likely be a backup.

Or the player is so awesome that the team is willing to park a viable starting option on the bench just to get however many games they might get from him. But if Reed is that good, he should probably be playing for Saints instead of getting loaned out.
