It's all over twitter that we have put him up for sale. Nothing official but it eould make sense. Sels, Elliot and Darlow are a decent three for me. We also have Woody too.
I'd say he's better overall than Darlow and Elliott but I've not seen Sels play so I can't comment on him.
I suspect that having spent a decent amount of cash over the last few weeks and also the possibility of a few more faces coming in that Rafa will have to look to balance the books somewhat. Krul is our best keeper and therefore our most valuable. The others should be more than up to the job in the Championship so it makes sense to cash in for me. Krul, Sissoko, Gini and probably Janmaat will bring in a few quid and hopefully leave a few sheckles in the pot for January. Remember Ashley has already stated that he will not be putting more cash into the club so its either an overdraft (from him no doubt!!) or generating funds that will be our kitty along with the parachute payment.
Never really rate Krul. Decent shot stopper but 90% of keepers are these days. He's like Mig, will make some very good saves, but won't dominate his area, suspect on crosses and about as good with his feet as Oscar Pistorius. If you can shift him abroad for anything close to £10m you'll do well
I always felt confident with him there when it was last ditch stuff he could dig you out of trouble. The problem is that I often found his all round game brings too much consistent pressure onto us. His distribution is just way off being good enough for me.
I think he is decent. I'd probably still rate him above Darlow and Elliot in some departments. My problem remains he is not a modern keeper and is awful with his feet. He doesn't try to play out and still humps it long far too often - frustrating teammates and coaches alike. This seems an inbuilt problem he has struggled to overcome. With Rafa being so keen on playing out and liking footballing goalkeepers it makes sense and is of little surprise. I'm not usually one for wanting to see players who have such a strong connection with the club and area move on, particularly when they have ability. However I think with this one there are a lot of ticks in the pro column to him being sold. Perhaps a change of scenery will also help kickstart his own progression which has undoubtedly stagnated.
I don't think it would be a major loss, a lot of people had big doubts about Elliott but I think he has a better all round game as a keeper than Krul, with Darlow and others there is a lot of depth as well.
Tim Krul plays one good game a season. the rest of the year he is average. Darlow and Elliot did well when they stood in. I do recall Darlow having a bit of a mare on his debut away to WBA, kicking was awful and he should have stopped the goal, but in the championship, i expect us to keep the ball well and give away very little in terms of opportunites to the opposition. Perfect for Sels a comfortable year to learn settle and prepare for the prem next year
