Great. Low cost Holidays have gone bust and I've lost my holiday and £3k to boot. Sorry this is way off topic but I am thoroughly pissed off - I was really looking forward to 16 nights in Toremolinos.
It's not ABTA or ATOL because it's a Spanish company. It does have the Spanish version of them. I paid with credit card and I also have travel insurance so I will get some money back.
There were multiple warnings regarding low cost holidays as far back as Jan 2015 when it moved its operations and registered in Spain. (you can't blame brexit for that!) this was a failing company that is now making excuses. I've lost count of the number of times the media and government have warned travellers not to book package holidays through companies that are not ABTA bonded members!!
Sorry to hear your bad news. I thought stories like these were firmly a thing of the past. Hope you get the majority of your money back.
Yep. You are right. Trouble is, I only found out about those warnings about Lowcost after it all happened on Saturday and did some retrospective research. Anyway, I will get my money back - and I have just been offered a villa out there - so I will have a holiday - just not what we had ordered!!
Sorry that sounded really harsh and I didn't mean it that way. (after birthday celebrations BBQ post) I am glad you sorted a holiday out.
FOR years I have had a month off and never found it difficult to find at least BB.. also went on a firms dinner weekend years ago I know BUT it was put together by the company in a matter of weeks a second hotel for overspill 15 couples, was booked when we got there better than the main one ! ALSO YOU LIKELY KNOW THE HOTEL you were to stay at so contact them and book a room/s !
Looking slightly better now. The hotel has confirmed that my booking has been cancelled but have given me an e-mail address to negotiate rebooking. In the meantime the wife's credit card company have offered her a full refund, no quibble, once we sign and return a form they have posted to us today. Also, I have been offered an apartment in Malaga for £100 per week - I'm actually tempted to go for that, rather than the all-inclusive - because I don't think even I could drink £1000 per week in beer!!!!! One way or another I'm definitely going on holiday and won't lose money Thanks for listening!!
because I don't think even I could drink £1000 per week in beer!!!!! Give me the address, I'll give it a go !!
Not sure why this is being reported: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36834408 I'm getting all my money back - if I can get an extra £7.78 then happy days - that'll pay for a couple of continental beers!
I think its because you paid by credit card which is protected under the consumer credit act. this is referring to the Spanish ATOL equivalent compensation.
As we are all sharing good news regarding holidays, I've taken 5 Imodium tablets and feeling a lot better. On a plus side I'm also a belt notch down now. So I'm not the fattest sunburnt Brit on the poolside now I hope. Glad to hear your news @bcfcredandwhite
