Certainly was tempting to let it run but I had a great offer- Done exactly the same on Jimenez mate- tenner on him to place top 5 at 60s on Betfair!
If he shoots -4 or -5 it could be enough to sneak in. Someone in the pack needs to shoot -6 or -7 and force Phil and Henrik into a better round than +2, which in a nail biting, grinding shootout, isn't quite as straighforward as it looks. Whether the pack can shoot a score to add that bit of pressure though is the problem for them! Sergio, Dustin, and Charl Scwartzel have shown flashes of shooting a great round but these conditions aren't incredible.
Andy Sullivan playing well today. A fair few have him I think, hopefully he continues and makes the top 7.
Philly Mick already puts the foot on the throat. Stenson made a nonsense with a wedge in to the first.
"Whether the pack can shoot a score " "puts the foot on the throat" " a wedge in to the first." Is this a golf match?
It's judgement day Ron. The only rules are there are no rules. Apart from the 10,000 rules in the rulebook. Other than that of course.
Yep, Stenson is like a machine now. Big eagle putt for Phil which just broke past the hole in the last 18 inches
Jesus Stenson so close to putting it in the bunker off the 18th tee . Can only be about 5 feet short?
Absolutely sublime from the pair of them- congratulations Henrik Stenson for finally digging in and getting over the line for a first major. His name rightly goes into the elite, whilst Mickleson confirms he is absolutely one of the major players in that group. Outstanding battle- to not win a major from -17 is startling! From my perspective I'm so glad to have cashed out now- I would have hated to be not enjoying Stensons first win. Links golf once again catching out the top ranked guys! Love The Open
I'm sure all members of the forum will be just falling over themselves to congratulate you on such an inspired piece of punting.
Amazing that two players could finish so far ahead of the field, in a tournament that only 17 players finished under par so its not been the easiest of week. The course seemed like a massive struggle for every other player barring these two. Brilliant golf from both players but 14 strokes difference between 1st and 3rd is a massive discrepancy, don't know of any recent tournament when the gap has been so big. Strange week but very pleased for Stenson, was fast becoming one of the nearly men of golf so happy to see him get his major.
There was I thinking Dustin Johnson was the second biggest certainty of the year. Second only to France winning Euro 2016.
Well done for backing Stenson, credit where it's due. The thing is it just makes me wonder how many golfers you actually backed? You were so confident about Johnson winning then all of a sudden after the tournament is over you pop up with a winning ticket for Stenson
