It's an interesting shout, but would be a huge risk for a club in our position. We simply can't afford to be taking chances with our next appointment at a time like this.

Not sure why you're getting shouted down though, his CV looks decent, in a few years' time with a bit more experience under his belt, who knows? Leicester were favourites for the drop this time last year - anything can happen mate!

I for one appreciate a little insight into an area of the game I ordinarily would never even have considered.

I was as it seemed like some of his post was writen in ancient cockney or similar, and he often drops hints about spurs. So i put 2 and 2 together and got a curly wurly.

I can't comprehend people are suggesting we sack Sam.

Publicly request the FA speed up their search, sure, but sack the first manager that's put a genuine and real buzz back in the place for years? Don't be stupid.

I see a lot of our fans mocking Mags fans for things they come out with, I read stuff like this and I remember why to most of the league we are a nothing Club who few would care if we tumbled out of the league.

Let's have some reality, Sam has a maybe one time chance of his dream job and he's got to consider it. Let's not belittle what he did for the club last season and for every one of us making us believe we could rise a little.

It's a mess, but Sam certainly shouldn't be the fall guy here, he's been wonderful for the club, make no mistake we would be where th Mags are right now without him.

Sam has a ceiling as we know he'd probs be ideal for 2-3 years. If he goes now the platform he's built, players he's signed and better physical condition of players all set us up better.

The only people who need to react are our pathetically sluggish board and negotiation staff who know less about negotiation and seemingly football in general than my left nut.

Yes it's common knowledge that Allardyce wanted the England job pre-McClaren.

Yes he's been interviewed by the FA.

No, it's not certain he'll accept the job if it's offered.

I'd rather work for the Devil than the FA ....... having to report to a bunch of arrogant blazers would make me cringe.

I think he will get it mate, but I firmly believe the FA don't want him.

I also believe Sam could make a genuine impact here and really make a situation where the FA want him as first choice down the line.

It's causing mayhem with Safc and I get that, and that is a massive concern, but you don't write him off and start again, as I still firmly believe that right now he's the best man for the job here.

The club needs to make a strong stance, the weak men running out club need to grow some tiny little balls to pressurise the FAs men with even smaller balls then we can dust off, move on and get ready for the season.

It's what, 3-4 weeks away? **** sake mate.

Goals against Germany, Holland, Nigeria, and a hat-trick in Serbia squashes that old argument mate. I think the main problem at Sunderland was Gus Poyet's stubborn insistence that he played the 'battering ram' way straight down the middle, instead of letting him wander about like he does for USA. I wouldn't say he's the greatest player I've ever seen, but he's damned effective playing for Klinsmann, who seems to rise above Poyet's ego trips. Just my view like.

Edit : Bosnia, not Serbia as I said.

He isn't very good. He doesn't handle pressure that's his issue.

He had some nice touches etc but rushed his finishing. These big game teams are friendly games only and mean little.

He wasn't as bad as we made him look but he was nowhere near Prem standard.

The way the FA commented on Hodgson's future during a major competition was amateurish & disgraceful.

They were self-congratulatory when we qualified, and things were going well, but instantly turned their backs on Hodgson when it went wrong.

As you say it's obvious that they're only considering Allardyce because Howe's too young, Redkapp's too old and Klinsmann is too German.

Where's our next World Cup ......... fiicking Russia, what a joke, not even Napoleon or Hitler survived going there <laugh>

Put it this way, the price for Sam to the FA would be going up every day the **** about if it was up to me. It's like we've forgot he's under contract with us, we hold the card. They're taking the piss, fancy not even lining all the interviews up for the same week like any normal company so I'd make them pay for it. **** about too much and we price them out.

West Ham United legend Sir Trevor Brooking has backed Sam Allardyce to get the best out of England's players if he is appointed as Roy Hodgson's successor.

The Football Association is searching for a new manager after Hodgson resigned in the aftermath of England's dismal Euro 2016 campaign which ended in defeat to minnows Iceland.

Sunderland boss Allardyce has become the frontrunner for the role, holding talks with the FA earlier this week, and Brooking believes he would be a good choice.

"These players are very talented technically - we even saw that in France," the former FA director of football development told The Sun. "But they were found wanting in terms of mental toughness.

"In the Iceland game, I saw players moving into positions where they could hide. It's easy to blame the man in possession - often Wayne Rooney - but there weren't passing options for him to knock the ball into.

"There's an overhead camera and I think it would be pretty damning for that game. That was the most disappointing thing for me to see.

"That's the thing about Sam - he's always made the best use of the players available.

"He got West Ham back into the top flight and made Sunderland stronger mentally and defensively.

"Combine that with the technical ability of these England players and I think you have a decent mix. The next manager has to be English and Sam is very experienced and organised."
