I'm looking forward to the season too. We're a very good side and have shown under Guido that we can pick up points at a more-than-steady rate. I'm a little surprised we lost this game, but I'm not basing our upcoming season on it. If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it's never trust your pre-season results. We've had seasons where we've handsomely won all our pre-season games and not performed in the league, and pre-seasons where we've struggled past League of Wales teams but excelled in the league. Pre-season is just that - pre-season. It's brushing off cobwebs. It's regaining fitness and sharpness after a few weeks off. It's trialling new systems and tactics. It's giving the kids a go. It's waiting for your international stars to team up with the squad because they've played all summer. It's playing in unfamiliar surroundings and weather conditions. In other words...it's nothing like the actual league season. You're all entitled to some doom and gloom if you feel like it, but I'll be judging how our season will go the same way I always do - off the first 10 games.
Well we have time to bring players in, you could swear the season starts next week, and the window closes at the same time
The season starts in 4 weeks and we have no strikers. They should have been signed by now to gel into the squad etc.
Well we've signed players far into the window before and they have gelled just fine! Signing players is not an easy process considering there are 3 parties, or 4 if you include agents. Do you believe the club are incapable of doing the job? If so perhaps you should have raised it before they took over, they are doing a good job despite new owners coming in soon.
Jenkins needs to hand over to someone who understands we are an established premiership side who is hanging on to that status by the skin of our teeth. It now looks like we will lose Ayew before the season starts and there is a very good chance siggs will probably go as well and here we are without any good strikers, Apart from that we have a reasonable side but dont kid yourself no team does well without quality strikers....
Well we seem to do well without them, remember we had 47 points last season, scored 42 goals and Gomis only got 6 of them. So what are your thoughts on that? How did we score so many goals without a quality striker? How did we have the second best season up here considering the first half of it was with a failure in charge?
The issue that Dai is getting to and I agree, is if we lose players and bids will come in for Ayew and Siggy the odds are the board will accept. Where will the goals come from without a recognised quality striker, plus we would need to replace the goals we have lost!!
Oh come on, this is the same every single season 'IF' ! There will serious problems if other clubs were not interested in our players, and as its the players who hold the cards, it will be up to them if they stay or go! If they go then we get the best price for them then move on to replace them! So forgive me if I don't take in the rumour crap mill, I don't believe any of it! And I'm sorry but only the gullible believe it all
That makes no sense at all! We landed up on 47 points, and 12th in the league, that is tremendous season considering Monk was a complete failure for half the season! He lost the changing room, it's his fault that we had a terrible start of the season!
If Chelsea's bid of £12m for Ayew is correct then Jenkins will sell as Ayew will want to go to a bigger club and who can blame him.....
So what can we do if a player wants away? You don't appear to know that it's down to the player not the club for the most part, for an alleged 'expert' your knowledge is severely lacking!
