I was born to Italian parents in the USA during the early 1920s
I’d already become a pro sportsman when WW2 began; I was rejected for military service due to an ear problem
Within my chosen sport I was regarded as bully, yet praised for my ability to absorb physical punishment; it is said the Mafia managed a large part of my career
Later on I managed bars, worked as a stand-up comedian and acted in more than 15 films; I’m still active on the speaking and autograph circuit

With Italian ancestry, I was born on the Dalmatian Coast during the early 1920s
I served as an infantryman during WW2 and was captured by the Desert Rats; I represented Italy at the 1948 Olympic Games
I started out in active wear such as tracksuits, and by the 70s I had boutiques in New York and Milan; I designed stage outfits for the likes of Pavarotti and Carreras
A nonagenarian, I died just days after my 60th wedding anniversary

One of two siblings, I was born in the USA during the WW1 years
I dropped out of school early to take on a string of jobs, including steel mill worker, croupier, bootlegger and amateur boxer
I recorded more than 100 albums and 600 songs and once knocked the Beatles off the No.1 spot; I’m also known for being part of a slapstick/vaudeville duo
I married four times and fathered eight children; after my death, the lights of the Las Vegas Strip were dimmed in my honour

    Unlucky, pud-pud. :(

I'm afraid your naiveté has cost you dearly, for it is extremely rare that a clue will play any part in forming the link.
Anyway, come back at 3.30pm for the next quiz. <badger>

I'm going to post a bumper quiz at 3.30pm - five names and one link :emoticon-0140-rofl:

It will be your chance to put Mon to the sword.

    Be there, buddy.

I have about 4 neurons left.

If my head was run over by a bus I'd nearly be as ******ed as Mindy :frown:

But these are exciting times in Quizland.

Don't let a hangover spoil your chances of achieving ultimate glory and acclaim. Beating Mon in a Five-Up-Linkster Battle will live with you till your final breath.

Two fried egg sarnies, a bag of cashew nuts and two cans of Vimto will soon perk you up.

    Hangover? <laugh>

    Hangovers are for megapoofs.

I've got a 18h drnking session with £180 of colombian family ruining powder and ritalin lines in me.

    I could still probably beat Celtic in a 1 v 11 match though <ok>

With English ancestry, I was born in the USA during the mid 1920s
As a youngster I enjoyed playing the violin and hunting; an unruly youth, I was expelled from several schools
Known for my distinctive voice and hair colour, I often played villains, soldiers and other grizzled characters; I won an Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe for the same role
Although a decorated WW2 veteran, I famously opposed the Vietnam War; I publicly endorsed JKK’s presidential election

One of seven siblings, I was born in Wales during the late 1930s
I joined the RAF at 17, but soon gave this up to pursue a music career; I performed in clubs and bars before signing my first professional deal
After initial success in the UK, my later releases did well in Australia and Scandinavia; my bid to perform at Eurovison failed at the selection stage
I now live in Spain, where I often perform on cruise ships and in clubs, and I regularly take part in charity golf events

A child of actors, I was born in London during the early 1920s
I appeared in films while still a schoolboy, but my career stalled when I joined the war effort; I served in Greece and was eventually captured
I’m best known for my role in a long-running BBC sitcom, yet I also made memorable appearances with the likes of Tony Hancock and Dick Emery
I was the subject of an episode of This Is Your Life; I was appointed an OBE; and I lived in Portugal for much of my later life

With German ancestry, I was born in the USA during the 1940s
My father was a military man, so we often moved around the country, meaning i found it hard to form lasting friendships; I once stole my father’s car and drove to California
During my career I sold over 30 million records, earned a dozen gold albums, won a Grammy, and was named Poet Laureate for my adopted home state
An outspoken political activist, I campaigned against the Reagan administration and conservative politics; I raised money for the homeless, AIDS research and sustainable living

I was born in the West Midlands during the 1950s; however, I grew up in the East Midlands
I attended university in southeast London and gained a Bachelor of Education, but I gave up teaching to pursue a career in television
My greatest success came during the 80s as part of a comedy duo; we won many awards, including the Golden Rose of Montreux
In recent years, I’ve taken to appearing in theatre productions such as The Rocky Horror Show, and I can sometimes be found on the Sky Poker channel
