OK I see. I love Romeu, seems a great guy and was really good at times last season, can only get better too with more game time.

Same with Reed, he deserves a chance. Koeman couldn't be arsed with him.

For me personally , a player who repeatably gets injured is a major ****ing concern, the type of concern in which I would go straight out and buy another striker. 3 strikers isn't enough as it is anyway.

Is if you have 4 wide players instead of one like we did last season.

I'm just not convinced Long, j rod and Austin have enough goals in them.

Exactly. I'm still optimistic we can get Austin fully fit and scoring goals. We need wide players/attacking midfielders.

Austin scored 18 PL goals for QPR in one season. We get him fit he will score goals.

We are going to be tough to score against, but not score many. That seems to be the reality.

I think we do if we get the right wide players, we will see if Puel thinks the same. If he doesn't then we will get a striker.

I agree, let's just hope he gets is fitness back and then not pick up another injury. I'd love to see J Rod get back to his previous form but I just can't see it happening, I hope he proves me wrong though. And Shane will do what Shane always does, work hard and chip in with 10 + goals. Can't see the midfield adding many more goals to that list really, so I still say we need another striker.

Not sure what people were expecting the club to say. 'we are going to spend big on a striker' and then watch everyone add a few million to transfer fees?

It's 14 July. The manager is having a look at the squad. We've not lacked depth in past seasons and have no doubt the club will want more depth this season.

Let's be fair to the club and leave complaining about how stupid the club is until 1st September at the earliest if it's still an issue.

Not expecting too much, but would not be too surprised if they got another good deal over the line in the shape of a striker. I'm very content at the moment, how could I sit here telling people I m worried when Ryan Bertrand is firmly on board.

Blog on Ugly Inside suggesting that Tadic is interested in a new contract now that Koeman has gone. Good if that is the case. I am amazed that no one has shown an interest in Dusan....he is a very influential player for us and I'm sure he has many more goals in him, though as Pelle once said, he seems happier to provide assists.

As Beefy said, talk we are still in for Pied. According to this piece, Puel has been unwilling to promise that he will play him all the time...we've never made those kind of promises (at least not in evidential form<laugh>)...and if we did, it would be to a bigger player than Pied. Not our style....you have to earn the place. I like the idea that things have got out in the form of indiscretions. :)

They could have said nothing, that always remains an option.
A striker is only a concern if you don't rate Long and Austin. No one is saying we need another left back, because we only have two.

Officially they have said nothing have they not? I think it is only people assuming that the words in the echo are from the club.

I may be wrong on that.

I'd be really pleased if he signed an extension. It would be interesting to see him perform/coached by Puel. Even when not at his best Tadic is capable of creative moments which turn a game.

However one of the many (rather funny) rumours on Everton forums is they are in for him. Interesting that other teams fans always rate Tadic highly. Less interesting (but also funny) is the puzzement of Everton fans that their '£100 million' war chest has not secured several top players yet and the management want to sell Stones before spending big. Welcome to the real world.

Yes, they are struggling with the brave new world. Bumped into an Evertonian a couple of mornings ago. Congratulated him on buying "Stek". Told him he takes a mean goal kick, but to be anxious if there is a shot on target. He was not amused, and told me that they are "in for" Schmeichel (?!). Oh, I do like a good laugh to start the day. You can rely on Everton.

Austin has not proved he can maintain fitness so its a gamble. We need more than 1 fit striker, Long cannot play every PL, Europa, league cup and FA cup match. Even if we have 280 wide players somebody needs to be in the middle.
