Yes, sure. Jose will go for the key player to get him the sack at the Chavs. If a player wants to negotiate a few extra pounds onto his contract, his agent will say "United are interested in buying this player!". Bob's your uncle.
8 years ago perhaps when Fabregas had ambition and a reason to play for. I feel sorry for him. Barcelona was a massive anti-climax for him. He's not recovered since and the pinnacle of his career has passed. He has zero ambition left.

Not really - just shows the new reality. Remember the new PL media deal is going to be worth £140 million per club per year on average, and we earn around £130m from our shirt and kit sponsors alone. Compare that to 2009 when the average PL TV money was £45 million per club and our shirt and kit sponsorship was £40m and if anything it's a surprise the transfer fees haven't gone up by more than they have since the Ronaldo move. We could probably get £20m from a mid table PL club if they wanted Valencia given the amount of TV cash floating around, unsurprising a club with oil money behind it will go higher.
Actually agree with you. My point was that those people (fans) who value the likes of Pogba at £40-£50m are out of touch with the new reality.
No, I think the truth is the new reality is out of touch with the actual reality. And that is that these players are not 'worth' their value.
There is the actual reality and the reality as perceived by premiership clubs. "You don't pay the money we keep the player "
