Nottinghamshire Police has become the first force in the UK to classify misogyny as a hate crime, with wolf whistling, street harassment, verbal abuse and taking photographs without consent potentially leading to visits from officers.
Police chiefs have also said unwanted sexual advances, uninvited physical or verbal contact and using mobile phones to send unwanted messages will be within the hate crime definition.
