please log in to view this image Gardaà are investigating an armed robbery and a fire at The Players Lounge pub in Fairview, Dublin. A gang of four men, one armed with a handgun, entered the premises shortly after 2am and tied up the manager. They took a substantial amount of cash from the safe. Two fires were then started in the premises and extensive damage was caused to the lounge area of the pub. A number of nearby buildings were evacuated but no injuries were reported. The scene has been preserved for forensic examination. Gardai have appealed for anyone who was in the Fairview Strand area between 2am and 3am and noticed anything suspicious to contact Clontarf Garda Station incident room 01- 6664800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
