Why is it a question of priorities? The UK will be negotiating a lot of trade deals at once. Are you saying other countries are incapable of doing the same?

It wont, any increased costs we apply to importers will be added to what we pay in the shops. Our ability to pay for those goods is dependant on how much goods and services we export plus external investment. If our goods are more expensive overseas then they will be less attractive and so our income falls. Net result if we fail to do a trade deal with EU will be increased prices, reduced income and therefore a reduced ability to pay them.
This is why dropping to a WTO trade agreement is bad news, even if it is for a short period

If the pun went over your head, then that's for you to deal with.

The price of food from the EU could well increase because we have lost our access to the single market. In order to import that food we will have to pay a tariff to trade. Add to that, not being able to employ eastern european workers in the packaging and distribution chain and the cost will also increase due to wage rises in the industry.

There seems to be a shift in attitude from many in the EU towards negotiations.

I suspect that if the EU don't deal with us, Russia will, which could well mean that the US will offer us deals to limit Russian involvement. Clearly, that could also mean a threat of sanctions if we traded with Russia, but I don't think there's an appetite in the US for that.

Similar happened in Iceland over the cod wars, when the UK refused Icelandic boats permission to land their catch so Russia started buying it, which prompted the US to undercut them.

I've answered it countless times. Essentially, there is no point or case to answer. Yet, you keep spouting the same groundless rubbish, hoping that somebody, somewhere will believe it!...

I have a life to get on with, even if you clearly don't!....

You're missing the point about priorities. The UK might want to conclude those deals quickly, but the ball is not in our court. We are dependent on the speed that other countries want to move at.

"Countless" as in unable to count? I've looked through your posts and couldn't find it. It should be simple enough to post a link to one of the many times you've answered the specific questions asked.

    Again, it's not a point, it's a question. <ok>

You're wasting your time mate, he can't (or won't) comprehend the difference between an open borders policy between EU member states and the individual immigration policies of those member states.

Interesting that Davis has been appointed as Brexit minister. A man who's said that our total net migration could be zero post Brexit. So much for Brexit giving more opportunity for more non EU immigrants, as we took 188,000 of those in last year, Davis thinks the highest number we'll ever hit in future in 100,000 total

I assume you're referring to your claim to have answered. Credit to you for your honesty, I just thought I couldn't find it. <ok>

Perhaps you can crack on with discussing the issues rather than pithy attempts at ad hominem.

I can agree with the first part, that the old arguments are just that and need to be forgotten so the discussion can move on. I can understand, but disagree with the perspective you place on leaving the EU, as I think the important thing is that we realise the true potential of separation and that we ensure we build on the many positives that are there. I believe it is the responsibility of the EU to look after their side of things, as I am sure they will.

How about the implications of Davis spouting about zero net migration? And a 'worst' case scenario of it hitting 100,000 maximum?

So much for your view that non EU immigration would increase post Brexit. If the likes of Davis get their way, then the doors are going to well and truly closed.

Leicestershire is a good example of unity in England, as north, south, east west and even the midlands all deny it's a part of them. <ok>

In what way does one preclude the other? I don't recall claiming it will, I have said it creates an opportunity to be selective on who gets in, which should favour skilled non-EU over unskilled EU.

Agreed, some of the time; but when we have the ball, as we will have, we will have some control - I do wonder why it is generally assumed that those countries who want and have approached us for negotiations would have any other agenda than as fast and effective an outcome as is reasonably possible. We will also have control of our negotiators and will be better able to ensure that their timescales and urgency serve us and not them, as might be the case with Fat Cat EU Bureaucrats.

You stop spouting groundless bullshit in a desperate attempt to be right, and I'll stop pointing it out.

    Ok?...
