My understanding was it's not that straightforward, non EU students can get a blue card after finishing studies and the 1.5 salary is a suggested guide for determining whether someone is skilled/ well educated.

Steve, I've had a quick look. To save me time, could you clarify what you mean about it being an EEA issue, rather than EU?

From what I've read,"The EEA includes EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows them to be part of the EU’s single market.

Switzerland is neither an EU nor EEA member but is part of the single market - this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the UK as other EEA nationals."

    https://www.gov.uk/eu-eea

Doesn't that mean that anything under the EEA is legislated by the EU?

Also, the UK has a number of different coloured certificates that sound similar to the blue card scheme. Yellow for students and self employed, purple one to show you have an employer, or a blue one that gives you permission to work. Do these seem to be the UK equivalents?

Add that to the long list of deflections..

I answered your inane question, if you can't counter the answer then at least have the good grace to simply ignore responding in future, as opposed to posting yet more deflection and guff.

Effectively yes, however it is a possibility that the UK leaves the EU and then negotiates entry into the EEA and therefore does not lose free trade but has to accept free movement as the price so felt it necessary to highlight the difference.
I lost track of the UK visa scheme a long time ago. I used to do rights of residency checks on foreign nationals 30 years ago but much of it has changed

EDIT...Thanks for another reply Steve. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm simply trying to understand it better. I appreciate your posts. I was writing this as you posted yours.

Right, I've had a very quick look, and here's how I see it. Just to be clear, I'm posting it to see what I could have wrong, not to insist I'm right.

Over simplified but, EU/EEA citizens have the right to reside and work in the UK and the EU and effectively have access to the same UK facilities as UK people. The limitation seems to be a restriction on people that can be proven to pose a real and present danger.

Non EU/EEA citizens need to apply and can get a variety of permissions to stay for varying periods of time. They need to demonstrate that they meet a variety of prerequisites, which basically mean they need to be self funding from demonstrable and legal sources. There are levels of requirement, where favoured skills and qualifications find it easier than others.

The UKIP policy seems to effectively be an extension of the existing UK policy to be extended to people from the EU/EEA.

As the UK cannot cater for unlimited immigration, and it cannot cap those from the EU/EAA, it has to estimate how many come from the EU/EEA, and limit non EU/EEA numbers accordingly.

In my mind, it means that we are forced to limit skilled non EU/EAA numbers, at the expense of open access to what will be a percentage of unskilled labour and their kin.

    Is that about right?

Only if you are fool enough to categorise all or a lot (Edit: now seen you claim the majority<doh> ) of UKIP voters as being racist. I find it remarkable that someone who clearly has a reasonable level of intelligence believes it isn't blatant bigotry to make such remarks. You should be ashamed of yourself, you broadbrush so many people as being (racist) bigots by displaying far more defined and telling bigoted attributes yourself.

I have no doubt you will claim this observation is wrong and made up, just as Treble tells lies to support his claims; no doubt the fool Tobes will be chipping in with his likes and inane support.

You tried to dodge the question asked, and you've continued to do that even after it was pointed out to you. The meaningless crap you did post, was disproved by the links you posted thinking it supported it. <laugh>

Sad, bitter, crybaby remainiac fails to interrupt Nigel. These remainiacs are looking more sad, desperate and crazy each and every day.

    Loving it.

They keep banging on with some nonsense about 'winning' and 'losing' without even considering what the game is.

I'm after learning more, so I can't lose if they keep posting. Each time they do, I learn more and more about their knowledge and intelligence.

Firstly they didn't disprove the point I was making you whopper.

The salient point of the UKIP links I posted was that despite their public utterances to the contrary they knew that they'd take the BNP vote, they also knowingly put up candidates who were confirmed racists and homophobes.

Hardly surprising that a UKIP voting balloon like you is defending and deflecting away from those simple facts though. Your true colours are now firmly on show.

I also answered the inane question you posted that you've accused me of dodging, when it's you that's swerved answering my retort.

I'm beyond bored of you tbh, some public sector pen pusher is my guess, a know all, know **** all gobshite, who voted UKIP., what a waste of my time.

It's an interpretation. Not one I recognise unless you assume the government are deciding to leave skilled jobs unfilled based on immigration from the EU. As our immigration from non EU countries is higher than EU then I'm not sure it's born out either.
