I wouldn't hold it against Sam at all for wamting to chase his ultimate ambition. If he doesn't get it he'll still do a great job for us.
I am not saying he wouldn't do a good job but I am thinking long term - check out the bbc website btw they have got Kevin Davies, Bridges telling how good he is and they even have an Allardice England team selector. Do they know somethi,ng already?
It's the 'Brian Kidd' effect mate ........ great player, good coach so therefore he must be a great manager
We need to sign a new manager today - 13th of July Come on Ellis - just do it, you've got 3 and a half hours left
Not too keen on the two 33-1 shots either, I would prefer it to be Big Sam of course, if not him then Tony Pulis would be my first target and if we cant get him then why not Sean Dyche or even Brace and JoS to carry on with Sams blueprint, any of these choices would be interesting, but please not Giggsy.
I don't reckon any top club will take a gamble on Giggs right now, the stakes are way too high in this league for that and your owner has landed you lot in **** going for untested (in this league) managers before. I can see him getting a lower league club and doing well, but only a select few are successful in the top flight and his playing days will probably have little bearing on whether he joins that group.
Sources close to Sunderland have told ESPN they are considering a move for Sean Dyche should Allardyce be appointed the new England manager. please log in to view this image
Another Mick McCarthy in my opinion. Going to be a good manager but has he got the clout at the minute to bring in quality players we need? Yes he did a good job at Burnley but they still went straight back down. I wouldnt object but would prefer somebody, like Sam, who has more premiership experience at this time.
It's newspaper speculation ..... nowt to do with the club. What are we supposed to do like, sit on our hands for weeks wondering if Allardyce will leave? I'd be interested in your opinion as the two situations are entirely different..
If Sam had been appointed and we were then looking for a new manager and definitely want him then go for it but if this is emanating from a source in the club then we could be unsettling their preparations when we may not even be going to proceed
So it's nowt but guesswork whereas it's a fact that the FA are interviewing Allardyce. Therefore not the same situation in any way and not 'exactly the same' as you're suggesting.
The report said a source close to Sunderland from which I said IF it was from the club then we were doing the same. If it is just unfounded newspaper talk then nothing to do with us. If Sam is appointed and we are looking for a manager and we go through proper channels then I have no problem although this would be us doing the same. I just felt uneasy if it had come from the club when we would be causing the same problems without actually needing to but that is probably just me being a soft bugger.
Ryan Sachs has quit as our football operations director (never heard of him tbh). Apparently he was heavily involved in contract negotiations. Start of the end? Someone else hacked off at the budgets etc? Time will tell I guess.
