According to Sky: With the formal interview process now underway, the FA is reported to be keen on talking to Eddie Howe, Steve Bruce and USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann.
They will have done. But Sam is the media choice given the coverage he's receiving. The media want this to happen desperately. They're virtually making the choice for the FA imo. Bastards.
Oh yeah, when England fails again because of the state of English football it will be all 'too unfashioned', completely forgetting they wanted him.
De Boer is a nice idea. Pellegrini would be immense, and ambitious. Klinsmann **** knows. Moyes seems likely and seems to fit. Great platform to restore his reputation. I just don't like him, it feels wrong for us.
It only took Hodgson 2 days to do the deal with the FA, he was approached on 29 April and appointed England manager on 1 May. It took the FA the best part of 3 months before they approached Hodgson formally mind, and they did let him stay with WBA to finish the season before he left for England duties. As an amusing side note... Hodgson had just a few weeks to prepare for the Euro 2012 tournament with England, this turned out to be his most successful tournament as manager, topping the group and losing on penalties to Italy in the QF. So the FA have form for getting the job done quickly.
Mate, I've gone from Pellegrini this morning to accepting Moyes to now thinking De Boer may be quite exciting. (still hoping the big man stays though)
If I had the choice I'd go for Sean Dyche. He's blunt, unfashionable and as far away from a 'marquee' signing as you could get ..... just like Allardyce was. Howe gets all the praise because he's a well spoken, handsome lad who looks good in a suit whereas Dyche looks like 'the accused'. But Dyche is a very modern manager, much like Allardyce, and inspires a great deal of loyalty in his players. Just like Allardyce he'd be a good fit at Sunderland and the kind of man our supporters would take to. Allardyce wants to prove a point, because the FA rejected him, so he'll take the job. He'll fail but his mind is made up so we'll all have to move on and get on with being SAFC as we always do
He's a very good coach, but he'd be pretty much an unknown in regards to his assessment of transfer targets, whether he could attract them and what not. He'd have way more money than he's ever had so that's why I'd be apprehensive. If we still had the DoF set up I could be swayed. Now all that's been scrapped and the new gaffer will be in charge of recruitment too I'm not sure.
I think now we have scrapped the DoF that makes Moyes even more likely to take over. He is old school manager, doubt he would relish a DoF..even tho he probably had one in Spain
I'm not fully against Dyche, he clearly gets his players playing and commands some respect. Same as has been said though, I fear transfer market disasters.
Mate if we'd signed the tips on here we'd be pretty tasty! I do think Dyche is going to have a long and decent career, it wouldn't be my pick but I'd back it.
As Sam has asked to be allowed to be interviewed for the job surely Ellis is now doing the same with his little shortlist. It's not as if that c*nt Allardyce can say owt can he?
Glimmer of hope. Allardyce still odds on but his odds have went out, while odds for Klinsmann and Eddie Howe, have shortened.
If there's even the faintest glimmer of De Boer or Pellegrini coming here, Short should beating their doors down.
If the managers head isn't commited to the Safc project is it worth keeping him? Don't blame him if it his ambition but would we not be better served with a manager whose "head has not been turned"?
