He had plenty of chance at Ajax and was moved between first and second team Jong Ajax to try and bring him on but he wasn't good enough.
Played the equivalent of 11 games at a club that had 2 CB's enshrined at the position . Player of the season for Utrecht in their best season in 25 years at under 20 years old , scored 6 goals in his last 36 for the club when he was getting a chance to play , we get him for 2 million . I don't know what to say to you lefty . I suppose if we payed more for him , you'd be happier .
I will judge when I see him play PL football, I hope he turns out to be a superb signing. Report into him, some positives and some negatives as well. I would have thought that we would be looking for similar qualities to Ajax in a defender as we like to play fro the back, but the aerial presence would be a bonus. http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...dutch-expert/story-29488234-detail/story.html
No I wouldn't be happy if we paid more, what an idiotic comment, just because I just at this time don't think he is that good a signing. Where have I suggested that we need to pay big money for a Centre half. You said this about him an Ajax organization that he didn't get a chance .......like an Eder . Yet he played more for Ajax and Ajax b than he did for Utrecht so I don't know where you got he wasn't given a chance, he just wasn't good enough for them. That doesn't mean he wont be good enough for us. I am not convinced as of yet that he will. I hope he proves me wrong. Valley I blame you for this I told you I would get involved in a pointless back and forth.
Van Der Hoorn started 40 games for Utrecht over two seasons ( at a super young age ) He had 24 starts at Ajax in 3 seasons . The season he won " Player of the season " when Utrecht had their best season in 25 years , Utrecht only had 41 goals against and were a + 14 . The next season when he went to Ajax , Utrecht had 65 goals scored against and were a - 19 ... A downward swing of 33. And the season he went to Ajax , Ajax only had 19 goals scored against them . When your a , oops , two team league you can grab good players and use them sparingly .
He then got moved to their b team Jong Ajax, to try and bring him on but he failed and was moved on because not good enough. As I said kevin keegan was good once as well. look I haven't said he is ****, I just don't think he will be a starter and is behind 3 good centre halves we already have, But you bleat on about figures on ****ing Wiki, they mean absolutely nothing, we don't pick a team by numbers on a wiki page, but by how they do on the pitch (unless you are Brentford). lets wait and see if he is any good. I will come on here an say so and eat the humble pie if he becomes a regular this season.
Soccerbase and who scored ... Stats are stats .And anytime you move to a " Massive " club who have oddles of money and players ... It's hard to break through . Ignore his " Sound " play at Utrecht all you want , I won't .....an overlooked gem IMO. Super strong in the air too apparently ....2 million bargain ...Michu and Chico at 4 million did at least as well as Bony and Fernandez at 20 million IMO , people can whine all they want about " Cheap " players , I'll continue to embrace it . Also , very happy about the " Young " guns being added to the academy......
But they are old stats and from a different club, Guidolin will not pick his team on stats, if Van de Hoorn plays well he will start if he doesn't he wont, I doubt very much whether they signed him as Soccerbase said he had a good season 4 years ago. Perhaps we looked at Fifa and championship manager to see how he did on there before we signed him. As I have just said if he plays well then he pays, but you cant just say he is bound to be a success because he had a good season 4 years ago. I am happy with the youngsters coming in but they will only be playing for the 21's this season they have a long long way to go yet, but the 21's did need strengthening. that is my last on this it is an absolutely pointless discussion, you think he is a world beater I think he will be a squad player. I hope you are right.
And this is my last on the subject , Bony played super for us then went to Man Citybags of money and only started a quarter of their games ..... I guess he's no good anymore .
The difference there is he has done it with us so we know what we would get, Van der Horn is an unknown.
Aren't they all unknowns to us as a team? We don't know the outcome until they start playing for us, for example you would put money on Gomis doing well considering his form before he came here.
I know it sounds like I am arguing for arguing sake but I am not, I have never rated Gomis from the minute I saw him playing in a friendly for us when he first came here, I agree on paper he looked a good player. Yes all transfers are unknown and it is about limiting that, this is why I saw Bony as perfect for what we needed for next season we already know what we would get. So poor form for someone over the last 3 season doesn't inspire me with confidence. As I have said I hope I am wrong.
I have seen that, just know nothing abut him or ever heard of him, goal scoring record ok, but not that special, 1 in 4. We will have to wait and see.
Fer a a striker ? I don't think so. I don't like playing players out of position. The England manager did and look what happened to them.
Bony played amazing for us and didn't get a chance at Man City . Van Der Hoorn played amazing for Utrecht and didn't get a chance at Ajax . Looks similar to me . 5 seasons in the Premier and we've averaged just a tad over 10 th place . 5 seasons in the Premier and we've spent more on infrastructure than we have on net transfers . And don't stray from the message of the line up I posted . That was a worse case scenario if Gomis and Ayew left and no one came in .....read what I wrote entirely ...don't pick and choose parts as if those parts are all I wrote please ...thank you . One further point on Eder , went out on loan and played magnificently for Lille then gets a chance to play the last 45 minutes of the Euro final against " Powerhouse France " and for those 45 minutes he was by far the best player on the pitch . We didn't know what we had , and neither did Porugal .... But Lille knows now . Look for Eder to play a bigger part in international football from here .
It is a different league Eder went to and a poor one at that, I wonder why he only had 45 mins if he is sucjh a great player, he scores a couple of goals and now jhe is the new Maradona, give me a break, Van der Hoorn was given ample chance at Ajax in both sides. Why are you bringing up the squad thing against a comment I mad on Van der Hoorn, are you having a little piss in your knickers there roof. Calm down, we disagree on some things no need to get all uppity. At least I can rely on you to give me a good laugh.
You guys and your " Every other league is sh:t " besides the Premier myth is the laugh . Ayew never scored more goals in the French league than he did in the Premier ... I guess the Premier League is a " Sh:t ". League . Eder scored 26 goals at Braga in 46 starts before he came to us. .... And 6 goals and 4 assists in 12 starts at Lille after us ... But you go ahead and base Eder off of 269 minutes in the Premier . And just because you say Van Der Hoorn was given enough opportunity at Ajax , doesn't make it true , it just means a laugh can be had . It's you saying I'm saying he's Maradona , not me .... I'm saying he never got a chance and it will be Lille that has the final laugh for the price .Anyone who watched Eder in the Euro final ( and not just the goal ) , knows Eder is quality , maybe not Maradona .
