Agree but why didn't we have a clause in the loan agreement for a permanent transfer (yet again)

Perfect point. Just wish we had, but too many reasons to factor into a reasonable explanation.

Guess we can forget about Sakho coming here now, as well.

Yeah you can't really question his money dealing which has brought him success as a venture capitalist in business but his risk taking strategy does not seem to be working at the moment - but wait ....he's never had an enigmatic barrier like Sunderland <cheers>

According to Bri, every overseas loan has to include a fee to buy, maybe this was agreed between the two clubs but his severance fee/wage demands are holding up any deal being completed.

Maybe he wants to see if Allardyce is still going to be there and if he's not who will replace him, before committing.

Typical Sunderland this. He is a class player, if he had been at Arsenal last season he woukd now be worth 15m. He is young so an investment. He is worth the money just get the deal done. Now we will lose out to Everton.

I bet Sam will be off too now. This should have been a good pre season for us, it's turning into a disaster again.

I'll be as equally disappointed at missing out on this signing than I would be if we lost Allardyce. I thought getting this bloke in was a certainty, once again it seems, from the outside looking in, we are totally farting about.

I read somewhere on here that Sams right hand man was sacked from those above him last season. Why?

That was me, they never confirmed why, apparently (according to rumour) he was disrespectful to club staff or something.

Apparently he played a big part in bringing in your January signings.

Who are you classing as "the big boys" - Champions League clubs? IN which case you're right as they have a much higher income stream - but everyone else in the league we should be able to match financially as we have the same income this season from the TV deal etc.

We can compete with Everton I'd say and should be competing with them. They're at the sort of level we should be aiming for and have little more coming in than we do.

I wouldn't. It's got nowt to do with SAFC and how he runs it. The way he runs tells me he's happy to risks if it means investing less and is happy to do just enough to keep us up season on season. I don't like the club being ran this way. Don't care how he runs anything else.

This true, but it's rule abused on virtually every overseas loan as the selling clubs ask for too much future fee to annul that part of the contract but still push through the loan.

It's one of the most exploited loopholes in football. Ask for something daft, and it turns into a normal loan deal giving the selling club the chance to be in a bargaining position when the loan ends.

It happened with Marcos Alonso, They didn't want to sell him. So pumped up the Future fee to put the loan through. We understood we'd never get and were happy with just the loan. This is more sticky as we actually want the player so negotiation will be very sticky.

Still believe the fee is **** all these days, it's the contract which cost you the brass. How much could they possibly be asking for a player they don't want in the last 6 months?

But surely FFP comes into play with how much monies clubs can spend?

Only when they're running in the red consistently, I think it's £100m losses over 4 years. I think you're borderline, or over it maybe, after that point the owners themselves have to personally guarantee to cover any losses.

Teams like Everton are run fairly well financially, I recall they posted a big profit a couple of years ago and spent the lot on Lukaku IIRC.

FFP is about to die mate. Ellis' master plan is sinking without a trace. It's losing support both from the FA and clubs.

if it were to die then he would have no excuses for not splashing the cash apart from being a tight cnut.

For me he has no excuse now. I'm one of what seems to be very very few who believe the buck stops with the owner of a company. He makes the decisions he should stand by them. The state of our finances, playing squad and transfer dealings are off the back of his decision making. The club has been a shambles most of the time he's owned us. I blame him and nobody else. Most rather make a scapegoat of somebody else though. Even though he has been the only common denominator throughout all our **** since he bought the club.

I cant argue with that Bri. If the owner of the company i work for was half as incompetent as Ellis is we wouldn't be working now.
