I remember a few on here saying Scottish football was at a decent level!! Really? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36780191
England as well- We have to stop kidding ourselves- During the euros, there was a Chris Waddle rant from 6 years ago. NOTHING, in that time has changed. Cant carry on doing the same things and expect a different outcome.
If it didn't surprise you, why make a thread about it, especially considering this was discussed on here at least 2 years ago! Of course it is a freak result, thats why its headline news on the BBC sport page. How many prem clubs have lost to lower league opposition in the FA cup in history? You wouldn't judge the league on those results?
Rogers is starting his Celtic career the way he left his Liverpool one. The worst part is then coming out to the media and stating he doesn't think it's a shock result, when the rest of the footballing world is pissing themselves laughing at Celtics expense. Whichever way you look at it, it's an awful result.
So you think that Scottish Premiership football is at a good level do you? Re- the Barcelona match, had it not been for the woodwork and keeper having a "Freak" game, Barcelona should have won by six!
Forgive me Redprintt, may I remind you that Derby loved him & Jose never played professional football!
It's was headline news because it was the only British game on!!, yes we did discuss it a few years ago, which shows that it hasn't improved!!
'may I remind you that Derby loved him' It was a mystery, sorry tragedy, that no club in England would take him off Gary's hands, not even Chesterfield. Aged 29 and in his prime Junior couldn't get a contract anywhere and ended up, for a 2nd time, in Scotland. It came as a huge shock to me that he was sacked and retired 2 years later.
Scottish football really needs a shot in the arm; long gone are the days when Celtic/Rangers could swoop in for in-demand Premiership players. I do think this was a bit of a freak result - first game of the season, played away, on a synthetic pitch against a side really up for causing a shock. I expect Celtic to win the return game by at least a couple of goals, but yes, this was an extremely poor result - if they don't get through then it would have to go down as the most embarrassing moment in their history. It may be controversial, but I wonder if a switch to playing in summer might be beneficial - then, clubs are possibly more likely to have fans come to watch matches when the weather's better, they won't be competing with the Premiership for viewers and may even get more foreign interest during their off-season (with allowances for World Cups and Euros obviously).
Don't really care what he did or didn't do for other clubs, in my opinion he was never a bad player for us and unlike some, gave 100%. I believe he's also doing the same as a manager......that, I have respect for..
Who said Scottish football was at a good level! - Nobody, ever Just for ROD, it's even worse than Welsh football (even though about 8 or 9 of their starting 11 in the Euros were born in England)
