That's what the mirror and a number of other sources are reporting. I personally think we should bite their hand off for this price as we have adequate cover in this area and Berbatov is 30. Give Welbeck more of a chance and use the 19m to ensure we get Sneijder or another capable creative mid.

    What do you fellas think?

i think we may well ship him out,but there wont be any replacement. if he goes, itll be rooney, hernandez, welbeck and macheda,a quite weak front 4 IMO,especially macheda, who is fairl awful.

Hes still only very young and he hasn't played much so its not fair to say Macheda is awful.

So you are suggesting we sell our top scorer and replace him with Kiko? Whilst City have Aguero, Balo, Dzko and still Tevez. What a joke tbh. We lose Oshea and Brown and Scholes and Edwin and you want us to lose Berba as well?

So we have bought De Gea who is not as good as Vds and we have got Jones who is not going to play much and we have got Young. Again minor improvement. Overall this means we are weaker than last season and City are stronger. Pathetic really. We must keep Berba if we don't and we don't replace him we will be in a horrible situation next season if Rooney is injured. Hernandez Kiko upfront or Hernandez and Welbeck? Sends shivers down all defenders spines <doh>. If we get desperate we should move Nani into a central role or Young.

Actually this was just what I was thinking might happen if Berb goes. Tbh his agent may have put the final nail in the coffin for Berb after saying that he may leave on a free transfer next season. So I wouldn't now be surprised if he was sold and Young and/or Nani were used as backup second strikers, especially if the cash is put towards someone like Sneijder who can also play as a number 10.

How can he leave on a free next year? Gill said we can activate a clause in his contract any time we want. If this did happen, I would like us to move one of Nani and Young into a central role. Most likely Nani, so we can play Valencia, Young and Nani.

dont know on this one, the fact he was top scorer last season would say to me we should defo hold on to him, but considering his age if we were to accept we could use that 19 million to buy a young striker, someone like lukaku maybe, he is defo one for the future.

That kind of scenario would be the only reason i would accept

Sign a young striker? With Welbeck and Kiko at the club would Ferguson do such a thing?

Owen said SAF has promised him more game time this season and Welbeck deserves a proper run so it may be too good to turn down.Diouf has also looked like he has made good progress, though I think a loan to Bolton would do him more good than 5th choice here.

cus kiko aint up to the grade, welbeck maybe, but kiko just isnt up to the grade for me. burst onto the scene, then hasnt done anything of note since. his loan at sampdoria wasnt exactly a success, if he cant score in that league, how can we expect him to bang goals in for us???

You cant score from the bench tbf.Sampdoria also sold their creative spark, Cassano and it turned out that they were indeed a one man team.Italian Football is very defensive, every game is like a Rangers CL match, so its hard to judge him on that.

I agree that his attitude/application wasnt great after his wonderful introduction but having seen his interviews since returning from loan I believe he has gained some perspective on what he has to do to stay at a great club like United, though I feel like Diouf he would benefit more from regular playing time in the PL.

understand that, but 0 league goals in 14 appearances isnt the kind of stat that gets me excited about seeing him play for us next season, at the same time I hope he makes me eat humble pie if he does play.
would like to see him go out on loan in the prem, aslong as he is going to get played alot.

Let him go for £19m as he is 30 and that's a cracking offer for a 30 year old.

I cant see him wanting to leave, but if the story is correct then nearly 20m for a 30year old player is not bad business and SAF & Gill have always done whats in the best interest of the club. Personally If Berba go's I would want a replacement as for me Welbeck is not United class, the only reason his still there is he came through the young system etc, now some of you may say I'm mad but for me there's still something about "Macheda" his what 19years old and more of a box striker for me an Welbeck i.e Macheda will score more goals, of this I am sure lads.

There's no way Diouf (is not United class, should be sold as well. As the lad is not going to get much first team football). But I do like the idea of playing Young or Nani as a backup second or 3rd striker, this could work every well and would offer us so much attacking speed up front:

    Rooney / Lit-Pea / Macheda / Owen

Nani / Young Valancia or Nani

Park / Anderson / Sneijder (Imagen him playing all the strings & linking up with Rooney) / Fletcher / Carrick / Cleverley-(Would worry me in big games I fear), with giving the like's of Paul Pogba some game time as well. I really like him. Ravel Morrison as well if this lad can sort out his private life and troubles.

    What does everyone think?

completely disagree with you about welbeck, he excelled last season on loan at sunderland, and for that reason think he deserves a season to show what he can do for us, he wont play in the big games but will be used alot more than we have in the past.
agree that diouf wont make the grade

Tough times ahead at OT. No new midfielder will sign, possibly Berba leaving. VDS gone, Scholes gone. We are going to struggle next season. If we sell Berba and Rooney gets injured, we have a very weak strike force. Also are we going to rely on Cleverly to be our midfield force? Can't see us finishing 1st or 2nd tbh. Just look at City. Ageruo, Silva etc. Amazing depth now. They now have a stronger and bigger and better squad than us. Are people still kidding themselves about Sneidjder? We won't sign him and only papers like the Mirror are reporting such failure of news. Was it not 3 weeks ago, he nearly signed? Daily Fail said it was all done etc. I think we will finish 3rd tbh as we have weakened.
