I bet his team won the passing though <laugh>

If the scousers realised how bad he was Suarez and co would have won the league with 5 games to spare that season.

I'd put money on it being Moyes.

Available immediately and a similar kind of mould to Allardyce.

Just putting it on record that I'll be gutted if/when it happens.

Maybe time to pull the plug and move on 4 weeks to first game?

Rumours are circulating that he'll be announced tomorow and hes already daid his farewells to the players.

Rumours also emerging that he's been pictured leaving David Gill's house in Cheshire. Just been an article on the Echo.

If it happens it needs to happen before the end of the week to give us time to get the new man in and get some transfers in and get a feel for the current crop.

Very well said and you make a lot of sense. Funny enough a conversation a few of us had at the weekend was exactly that. Mike Bassett England Manager. Expect Benson and Hedges to make a return :)

Now that is scary. Not often the bookies are wrong, but favourites fail now and again. Fingers crossed it will happen here.

Totally agree with this. I think the fans deserve better than to be played by the club. Someone needs to make a statement even if he has had an interview. No one will be surprised by this. The timing and potential upheaval for the club at the moment couldn't be worse but maybe he will turn the job down. If they can comment on the speculation surrounding the Santon transfer then surely they can make a statement on this?

We probably haven't had any comment from SAFC, because the FA would probably see it as rudeness, and might even lose Sam a job he very much wants. If that happened, Sam would never forgive us and be off at the first opportunity anyway. It's not how things are done.

What a crock of ****e, If Sam wanted the job nothing would stand in his way, Sunderland have and always will be the last people to let the supporters know what is happening, a total disregard for the feelings for the fans.
Pissed off at the way we are treated by SAFC.

I still don't know what you expect the club to say mate.

Sam has made no secret of his wish to manage the national team and the FA have made no secret of the fact that Sam is a potential contender. They can't say any more than that.

So what do you expect the club to say? Their hands are pretty much tied. Granted they could have made a more pragmatic statement when he left the training camp and flew back but there again, they probably feel like they're walking on eggshells at the minute.

They've got no choice but to let things run their course. They have no control of what happens over the next few days or so. All they can do is put contingency plans in place behind the scenes and I'm sure thats probably happening.

I'm betting there's already a list of managerial options on the Chairman's desk, just in case.

As a Welshman looking in, I think Fat Sam will do a far better job with the England team than the previous few managers. I can't see him taking sh.it off any of the "superstars" and won't take any nonsense off the FA.

One thing you can guarantee from an Allardyce team is that they will be organised - this was the key to the more successful teams in the Euros and was something woefully lacking in Hodgsons side(s). As a passionate Englishman I'm sure he will put an England X1 on the pitch who will play for the shirt.

He could be a surprise package.

The club can't say anything, end of story ...... it would just make matters worse.

I'm already resigned to Allardyce leaving and at least it's happening quickly.

I'd hope the club are making plans for a replacement and sure they are.
