W need a new chairman or someone else with more vision to run the club......Jenkins cant get out of lower league mode that will knock us back as quick as we came up.....We reached our limit the season before last and now some serious money needs to be spent to keep us moving forward with the rest of the premiership....we cant keep working on a shoestring as eventually that shoestring will snap....
a few questions that have to be answered - 1. Why do we buy players and don't give them a decent try? 2. Why do we buy utter crap and persist with them? 3. Why weren't our scouts out getting the likes of Vardy, Alli etc etc? In my opinion the scouts all need to be sacked, whoever dots the i's and crosses the t's on 75% of the transfers over the last 5 years needs to be sacked - if Jenkins, give yourself an uppercut and resign.
1) because if they don't perform on the training ground they don't get a game, we have over 20 players in the first team some won't get games it's that simple. 2) probably because when we buy them they are playing well for other clubs, and once they are here we got no options sometimes but to play them. 3) Isn't it obvious? There are lots of competition for the signatures of players, we are not going to get every player we are after. I would say that most clubs are in the same boat, not every player will work for the club, there are going to be abject failures and there are going to be successes, you cannot blame the scouts for that. Jenkins is an easy and convenient target for people, he is the face of the board, he is the one taking the flak for any perceived failure, I see little thanks for him on us being in the premier league for the 6th season, without him and the board we wouldn't be here.
You hope we get relegated???? Come on Dai, that's a poor thing to say by any supporter. The transfer window is still open and I'm sure there's plenty of wheeling and dealing to be done yet.
I agree, really it's taking fickleness to a whole new level, the problem with fans like Dai is that they want instant success, instant player transfers, and to spend money we do not have. We have 53 days of the transfer window remaining and it's been open only 13 days, in that time we have brought in 4 players, and extended contracts of a number of key players. I would say we are doing well so far.
The final third of last season our form was pretty good and if the new season continues in the same way a top 10 finish is not out of the question, even with the current squad. However I do think we need a quality frontman and possibly a right back although I think Naughton would be ok in a system like Wales employed. I think it is right we do not overstretch ourselves financially and whilst we say teams like Watford and Palace are spending big money, for them, I wonder if they are storing up problems for themselves in the future Having said all that we do need to take note of the current market prices and make a major striker signing and not gamble on someone who may or may not be a success..
There is spending and then there is SPENDING, apart from one no one is advocating spending 30m on one player, But we can not go into the new season with the squad we have, it is simply not good enough. We have no striker (if fatty Gomis does go), surely in the history of the PL no club has gone into a new season without one. We have to strengthen and as it stands we haven't, we have brought back a player who was here for half a season and a Centre half who will be 4th choice. If people believe that is moving the club forward then we are in trouble. I actually do think we will get active soon in the transfer market and we will see 2 or 3 additions before the start of the season. We cannot stand still and I do not think our squad is anywhere near good enough for 10th next season, with a few new faces(including a striker) then it is possible. What we have to also think about, who is to say that who we have now will stay, so we could be even weaker going into a new season.
Nobody is suggesting not strengthening the team, and we have done so already, four players in and 13 days in the window, okay two of them are for the development side, but this is not a race to sign players in as quickly as possible. We have a month before the season even starts, and the transfer window is open until the beginning of September. I have every confidence that we will bring at least one striker on a permanent deal and possibly another on loan.
There is one on here who is happy with the squad so yes one is suggesting we don't strengthen, You mention the 4 players, tell me how it will in any way improve the side, Fer, was here last year, Van der Hoorn is probably 4th choice behind Williams, Fernandez and Amat and 2 kids who don't have a PL appearance between them, if that is improving our chances of staying in the PL then I think we will have to disagree. As I also stated I believe that we will sign players, we can not stand still at the moment we are not standing still but going backwards, however with 2 or 3 good signings that improve our starting 11 and then we will move forward and I believe this will happen.
So you are disregarding these players then? We have made signings and you don't know the impact this will have on the team, Fer was okay for us hence the reason why we've got him to come back, he knows how we play and is a less of a risk than anyone else. Van der Hoorn is one that will fight for Williams place imo, he will bring something extra for us, so we will be a better team with him. And of course we will sign players, and you can't say we are going backwards when we haven't even started the season yet, this is not a sprint to sign anyone because of fickle fans, I'm not by the way suggesting you are, but there are ones who are.
...........................................................Fab .........................Fernandez....................Williams ....................Van Der Hoorn ..Naughton.................................................................................................................Kingsley .................................................................Cork Routledge.................................................Siggy..........................................................Montero ..................................................................Fer Subs: Rangel , Amat , Taylor , Barrow , Ki , Britton . This if Ayew and Gomis are out and we get no one in . Now I'm not saying not to get anyone in , Ayew and Gomis must be replaced . But if they stay , I'm good if no one else comes in ... But would prefer a few more in .
Where have I said I am disregarding them, I just see them as average Fer I get as he did ok last season and will fit in. You know Van de Horn then as you say he will bring something extra, I take it you have seen him play regularly. All we can go on is where he is playing and what he has achieved as I doubt you had ever heard of him before he signed. I get it we have signed him but surely for the future and just dont see him as a starter. I may be wrong. I agree that there fans who want things don quickly, I accept it is not a sprint and we have to sign the right players, but we cant go in to this season with out a striker.
I was going to say that Valley but didn't want to get involved in the back and forth with the no logic arguments, Fer as a striker REALLY. But everyone is entitled to their opinions.
That's a matter of opinion ...... Udinese had their best season in 25 season the season before Van Der Hoorn went to Ajax . In that great season at Udinese , Van Der Hoorn was their " Player of the Season " and under 20 years old .....what else do you need to know about a 2 million £. purchase. His move to Ajax reeks of being overlooked and not getting a chance . 6 goals in his last 36 games with Udinese. A goal every 6th appearence as a CB , knows his way around a header... Won't go amiss around Swansea .
So he hasn't really progressed then has he. He moved from Utrecht to Ajax where he doesn't have seem to move on at all. I know Kevin Keegan was superb 30 years ago maybe we should give him a go he scored loads of goals once.
Fer has expierence striking , you guys can pretend he doesn't . 4.5 million £ of utility gold IMO. You guys saying we have NOTHING if we don't sign two expensive strikers and Allen got blinders on . I would have been over the moon with Paloschi and Eder leading the team but I guess most aren't ...considering 9 starts between them and a loss of almost 4 million when they left . And if that line up I posted stayed healthy , sorry ...no relegation IMO
When mate show me where he has played as a lone striker. He is a midfield player for **** sake and scores a few goals from there. As for Paloschi and Eder, sold probably at the right time as we would have lost 8m if we had kept them.
I've read up on him since we have signed him, but you are saying 4th choice so it would suggest you know this player, I don't agree with that, he I think will be on the bench once he's settled down into the team. Nobody knows exactly how he will get on as like all new players it's a calculated gamble on him. But he's a big lad and I have confidence that he will add to the team. We shall see if I'm wrong.
Oops , meant Utrecht.... He came off a super season at Utrecht straight into an Ajax organization that he didn't get a chance .......like an Eder .
