I'd be shocked if he wasn't willing too. He got about £6m for doing ****all over two years when he got sacked last time!

Following Roy Hodgson's resignation as England manager on June 28 after their disastrous exit from UEFA Euro 2016, the Football Association's search for a new Three Lions boss began.
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp are reportedly in the running after England under-21 head coach Gareth Southgate ruled himself out.
    Continue for updates.

Fergie has already anointed fat Sam as England manager, after all those years of 'Arry sucking up to Fergie he got dropped like a nobody.

If it wasn't for the English press I think Rafa would be a decent shout.

    Pure guess though.

I think he'd be a poor international manager. He's a tactical manager so needs time with the players to get his ideas across, you don't get that with international football.

    dunno about that.

I agree with your point on time and such but its the england approach with players dodging and picking the next flavour of the month and 10 subs a friendly that kills things

    Look at conte... huge organisation.

If you take a job like spain. then pick 16/18 core players for 2 years AND the system is bought into by all then you can have all the time in the world in those 2 years to both qualifiy and get it finely tuned.

then that month of training in camp is ample.

    Hodgson:

10 wins v ****e teams playing 4231. only prob 1/2 teams in that quali group were up to any standard.

toys with 41212 and 433 pre tournament then goes 433 in finals and players have no clue what to do.

    RE; Conte and "Hugh organisation"...

Pretty have the Juventus back four (including Buffon) helps with that. Not much to organise when they've been working together for years!

    Agree with the Woy part.

Well ok thats fine but he was the one picking the experience. Was he the one signing bonnucci for juve? I dunno.

the point is its a tried and true formation and plan and each team was prepared for immaculately

What did woy do for russian game... try 3 formations and 30 players in warm ups. abandoned the plan from qualifying totally, picked half fit squad, loaded with strikers and ended up looking like a pub team

I'm pretty sure that italian side was total **** with little pace, little real guile and they managed to do more than expected including dumping a better spain side out.

    lol, this one is hilarious

David Gold puts forward Fat Sam as a good choice for England
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36766990

Good enough for England not good enough for West Ham apparently. Basically its just a 'stay away from Slaven' warning.

Next manager should not be some English manager who specialises in keeping team up, should someone who improves teams year on year.

Part of me thinks SA would make a good England manager.

He won't take **** from the players. He studies stats, the opposition, etc so can play the tactical side of things too.

It's the long ball tactic that concerns me. Well, that and is extremely average win/draw/lose record.

Get a younger manager in who wants to play footy, get another dinosaur and you'll just remain ****.

Apparently David Gill is the main decision maker when the England boss is chosen.

Allardyce went to Gill's Cheshire home for a meeting/interview yesterday.

Gill has never appointed a manager before has he?, Fergie was already Utd manager when Gill arrived at OT, it would appear that Fergie is endorsing Sam for the job, I suppose that would be a good decision if his previous managerial endorsements had been successes, its a sad reflection of the state of England's national team if a Scotsman has the final say as to who becomes their next manager.

Is there a reason for this question?

Of course there is, as its the case he shouldn't be anywhere near who gets the England job, he hasn't got the experience, unless you think he gave Fergie advice on football matters at OT, Fergie(a Scot)having a say is bad enough but just because a financial expert worked for Utd at the same time as SAF doesn't make him qualified to choose a manager, and on another mans say so, the FA should just have let Fergie make the choice instead of using Gill as a go-between.

Not sure Fergie has any official input
Maybe we should ask Roman or even the Liverpool board, they have lots of experience of picking managers <doh>

Who would you suggest and what "experience" would they require?

Your bitterness is really lying heavy on you, let it go and I am sure you will be a lot happier :emoticon-0100-smile

You're sounding like Shtan Diego, no bitterness here, give me some details of Gills experience that would make him the main man to make the choice?
If I was "bitter" I wouldn't have suggested Fergie should have been hired by the FA to "officially" make the choice.:)

Also considering its an interview for English football's top job, why is it not taking place at FA headquarters?
Your point about Roman and our owners, they own and have the say at their clubs for right or wrong, but the England team belongs to a nation and is a completely different set of circumstances.<whistle>
