It's really not that simple, though JWP & Davis usually play more attacking roles than Romeu & Classie anyway. And if we go back to that double pivot type system we played under Poch, it'll allow them to get forward even more.
Everything I've read about Puel suggests he plays a high press like Poch did, so I wouldn't be surprised to go back to that same formation too. We've certainly got enough DMs to play it, and whilst another AM would be nice, it's probably not essential - particularly if Hojberg is as forward minded as I've been led to believe elsewhere online by Bayern\German fans - when asked who in the Prem he was most similar too, Jack Wilshere's name came up. That's certainly a role in front of of the DMs, but others emphasised his box t box qualities, so he seems as if he could be part of a double pivot as well, Schniderlin style.
A 4-2-3-1 needs players in totally different positions than the 4-3-3 we've been under Koeman. So what formation Puel plays will dictate what players we need.

so Forster, VVD, Bertrand, Classie, JWP, Pierre, Davis...Long next?

Backbone of team on long term deals - that's the progress the club has made in the past seasons. We have never been in a position to tie people down like this before. Means we won't see a situation like VW, Pelle or Clyne in the near future (i.e. we will get what they are actually worth not what contract length dictates). Happy happy chappy.

Naysayers - times they are a changing

Yep, changes not only the way the club is approached, but stops a few nuisance calls straight away.

Whats more pleasing about RB's new deal, he has seen comings and goings of the last few weeks, and he knows that he is highly regarded, but he is happy to commit his future to us. Sends out a really good message.

It also means we can flat out reject any offers until we are ready to sell. For all people say about how little a contract means, we kept Morgan, Wanyama and Mane longer than they wanted because of their contract.

Did you see him towards the tail end of the season? Once he bagged a goal and played upfront on his own he looked a lot more comfortable.

Also Jay scored that hat trick against Liverpool u21s - not the highest level, but it still takes a level of fitness and competence to do that. I still think their is hope here

Not overly convinced by Pied but with more games this coming season he may be needed for squad rotation purposes. Is he strictly right sided or can he play on the left as well?

Looks like Ibes mum slapped him silly and he is now ready to sign for Bournemouth. Would have thought this would have been a no brainer, 20 year old playing under a manager who likes to play nice football, play well and in 3 years when your abit more established, then you can look for a bigger move, or be a twat and end up like Nile Ranger

Agreed, but I like to think the club no what's what with Austin and Jay. I felt last season we suffered badly not covering Forsters loss very well with Stek. I don't care what any body thinks Stek was poor, and we lost so many points but not having a decent goalie for half the season

Talisca turning down Liverpool to join....Wolves in a £21m move.

New owners look to be seriously splashing the cash

You're forgetting that Austin was due to sign for Newcastle and failed a medical. They suspected he wasn't a good option medically

That was Hull the season before I believe, not Newcastle. Hull turned him down and he score the winner there and did the old "limping man" celebration

It was Hull too then because he definitely failed one there as Insaw Steve Bruce interviewed about it. I didn't realise that he had a medical there. Is this fact or a paper story?

I don't remember anything about Austin having a medical at Newcastle.
