Wolves are in the same position as is, everything is on hold until the ownership situation is sorted.
Is it me or the money in transfers and wages is exponentially getting worse? We all know it's crazy money but it seems but jumping massively every year rather than every 4/5 years like it used to. I know tv money is going up and all but it's insane. Some prices banded about are crazy.
The money sounds crazy but football is a crazy world. If you pay £80m for a player and get 4 years out of him in which time he helps you win the league a couple of times and maybe some cups (even the CL) then the extra sponsorship this can draw in vastly overshadows they outlay.
Do you ever go grocery shopping? Haven't you seen how the price of almost everything -- bread, meat, fish, spuds, ..., -- has rocketed in recent years? It's deliberate policy by our governments (no politics, Ta). I think that plays a significant part, comparable to, but smaller than, the TV money.
yes i get that but problem is the inflation is happening across the board now. Crap players going for £10 million , guys in their late 20s going for prices guys in their prime were going for 2/3 years ago. Spending a ton on a star is one thing but ****e players or small clubs demanding crazy amounts just because "well he sold for xxx so we'll ask the same" is just insane. It's ****ing up the entire market. You're best off getting very young players and hope you've hit jackpot.
:20 POWELL DEAL CONFIRMED Nick Powell has rejoined Wigan Athletic after his contract at Manchester United expired at the end of last month. Powell passed a medical on Tuesday and has signed a three-year-contract at the club, for whom he scored 12 goals while on loan in the 2013-14 season. The 22-year-old has joined the squad as they continue their pre-season training and manager Gary Caldwell is delighted with the acquisition.
Wouldn't argue with that, just pointing out that (at the top end) silly money is spent because silly money can be made.
Austin failed a medical for us and passed one for QPR, what's your point? I commented on his medical at Wolves.
