Cook is a pragmatist, it's very unlikely he'd not play kids unless it's in like the semi-final or something. NEVER. Please explain why the ****ness of the England team is of any concern to League 1 and League 2 clubs.
Oh and by the way, I don;t remember the Pompey fans having this self righteous rage when their club was cheating revenue and paid their creditors back 10p to the pound, including charities
Oh my goodness, you are actually pathetic. Going down the tired old 'stealing money from charities' route. It would be laughable if it wasn't so predictable and boring. Newsflash: our fans, who you are critising, actually paid back the charities out of their own pockets after the disgraceful behaviour by our previous owners. Likewise our clubs paid back in full all the small creditors (£2500 and below I believe) even though they had no legal obligation to do so. If we were apathetic as you're insinuating, the fans would never have organised to pay back the charities. You also clearly don't remember all the protests, Peter Storrie being ambushed outside the training ground, and so on. But hey, don't let anything as inconvenient as the truth get in the way of your bigoted opinion.
Dont mind Pompey fans. Shame about the club. Unsure of this idea of letting prem u23 teams compete in the comp. Yes it may benefit their progress, but i despise the way that the prem monster has evolved and not giving a **** about lower leagues. How **** would an all prem u23 final be? Let them have their comp and potential wembley final. And im a sunderland, and we havnt won **** all since 1973.
I suppose if PL clubs were that concerned about the development of their academy prospects, they could play them in their first teams occasionally. Like Saints do. Although anything that annoys p*mpey fans is generally a good thing, on this one I agree with the OP. The PL clubs should just **** off really.
The PL have put £1m into the prize money pot for the privilege and the decision to go down this route was taken by a vote amongst the Football League clubs, who appear to virtually universally think this is a good idea. So the OP's ire should maybe be aimed at the football league and not the PL clubs who they've voluntarily invited to join the competition.
Uncharacteristically for me, I am going to throw a spanner in the works. How about we permit teams to field up to 12 players, and we make all football - across the board - mixed sex? The rule would be that each team has to field an equal number of male and female players. That would mean that if, for example, a male player gets a red card, as well as that player going off, the manager has to remove one of the female players, too. That would spice things up a lot, I think. What do you lads think?
My goodness! A staggering £1m! Aren't the Premier League so generous in what is essentially a bribe? Universally? Nope. Gillingham, Luton, Portsmouth are just three clubs to vote against it. The clubs that voted in favour of it basically sold their soul for a bit of a extra cash, and even the fans of those clubs are up in arms about their clubs voting in favour of it. The reason why my ire is directed at the Premier League moreso than the Football League is because of the huge inbalance of power between the two leagues, the former can just bully and bribe its way to what it wants.. it's not even remotely an equal relationship. As Archers said, if Premier League clubs were concerned about developing their youth players, they could play their academy prospects in the first team... like Southampton do. Funny how they managed to produce a lot of talent without haing played in the Johnstone's Paint Cup since they were briefly in League 1.
The Football League clubs don't want it, the fans certainly don't... being bribed, cajoled or coerced into something isn't the same as wanting it. Seriously, don't ever have sex with anyone with that attitude, it could end badly for you. And the Premier League clubs may not want it, but the League itself and the FA, which we all know is in the Premier League's pocket, do.
Have a listen to Barry Fry on TalkSport this morning mate. Most football league clubs voted for it and they don't believe it will see PL clubs winning the competition either. You need to have more faith in your club mate The FA and the PL officials can do and say as they please, the FL & PL are nothing without the teams. What the teams are saying is blatantly clear. You're in the minority as far as the FL are concerned.
I don't care what Barry Fry says, some people would sell their parents for the right price. I think there's more important things than money, I am against this on principle. Clearly the clubs that opposed this (obviously the minority, otherwise this wouldn't have passed) also feel on those lines. League 1 and League 2 club playing premier league acadmies would be incredibly patronising. My club does not just exist to provide training matches for Premier League academies
My reference to Barry Fry wasn't because he's some wonder of the world that's always right, far from it. My point was he clearly says that the vast of majority of FL clubs voted yes for this competition. It was a land slide victory. I'll repeat, it's not PL clubs that want this so you should be blaming your own.
On the other side of the coin, a lot of european lower leagues consist of their top divisions reserve teams
