Call me naive - or anything else you want to call me! - but exactly what difference will having new owners make to our performance? The only difference I can see is if there are new owners, and if those new owners are stinking rich, they might be stupid enough to provide a massive budget for the Manager to spend on players - even though the club as such has no other real assets. I think some of you are living in cloud cuckoo land. At best, new owners, if they appear, will probably mean an end to the Allam ownership (although they may still retain an interest). That will please the anti-Allam obsessives, but won't actually change anything else. The membership scheme, like it or loathe it, is up and running for next season, the Airco Arena saga is done and dusted, the City Council are still inept and seemingly anti Hull City and pro Rugby League. Our performance is still down, as always, to the Manager and the players - the owners should have no influence other than providing a realistic budget that will not bankrupt the club as we have been close to on several occasions in the past.

I find it hard to believe anyone is seriously this naive.

Any new owner will reverse all the recent stupidity to get the fans back on side. We'll be called Hull City again, the West Upper will be reopened to pass holders, all the bad feeling could/will be dispelled overnight and we can all just go back to concerning ourselves with onfield matters.

It's what every City fan should be hoping for.

You could have said the same about Christopher Needler, David Lloyd or Buchanan and Hinchcliffe. Maybe we should have stuck with them?

Sensible questions now, how long does the FA "fit and proper" test take for new owners, and can they start running the club whilst the test is applied?

You forgot to put the words "I hope" before your post. Also, it's irrelevant to what I asked which was "... exactly what difference will new owners make to our performance"

Exactly my point - thank you. Other than providing a budget, owners are an irrelevance to team performance - that is down to the manager and the players. As we don't own any assets other than players, then it is highly unlikely that any owner is going to put up "silly money" unless they are stinking rich and stupid.

Is this a deliberate whoooooosh or do you really not see what positives new owners would bring to the whole ambience and atmosphere at the club, with the obvious (maybe not to you) benefits that it would bring to the eleven on the pitch on matchday?

Are you a wum or just a bit thick?

I'm obviously a bit thick. I've seen many owners come and go at this club. Some very good, some very bad and most in-between. However, the only things an owner does that affects performance is to provide the budget and appoint the manager. The rest is up to the manager and players. I don't see any new owners providing a bigger budget, but they may change the manager. If that happens, only time will tell whether that's to the benefit of performance or to its detriment.

Just a wild theory (which might've been said already), could the lower budget be indicative of a takeover going through? If the Allams are selling up, then they'll want a bigger share of the money on offer and will probably use that to recoup any losses (even though I'm sure it's paid in instalments). They say to Steve "right, here's a small budget to work from" because they're off and they aren't going to commit big funds to a side they don't own, leaving the new owners to come in and set a budget for the upcoming season.

Actually he's being cynical. Naive is believing the grass is greener and everything will be fine under new owners. I think it'll certainly be better, but it's definitely naive to think there'll be no issues with them in charge.

They might just want to take as much out this season to get some of the loan back not sell then if we stay up they can either take more or then sell the club and make more money just a theory, even if they take a lump this season and we go down they will still make money from selling next season.

Hull City has huge potential to generate income. The additional income means that the club has more money to spend on players which may given a good recruitment policy improve the performance on the pitch.

The Allams have wasted that opportunity to maximise the income from ticket sales, season ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship, expanding the stadium and developing the surrounding area.

Whilst its not guaranteed that any new owners could do that, its fairly certain they will try. Goldman Sachs have a record in the States of helping sports clubs develop sports stadia to include other revenue generating businesses. Usually in partnership with public bodies. If we get bought by the Americans it is likely we will see the development and extension of the KCOM, increased use by other businesses, the development of the surrounding area which will generate significant income for the club. All in partnership with Hull City Council who will fund some of the development through the newly created stand alone leisure company.

Get the impression that the takeover is close, due to SB breaking cover with his diplomatic approach to the owners that or he want out now via the sack

I was going to stay up until midnight to see who the new owners are, but I'm quite tired so I'm off to bed
Could someone just pop the name of new owner on this thread so I can read it in the morning please?
    Thanks for that

I would hope now that the deadline has passed we can get some sort of statement this week one way or the other. Is there a need for confidentiality anymore if either the US bid has been successful or unsuccessful?
