Football is big business, competition has all but ceased to exist. The Premiership is a league of twenty clubs which only a handful have a chance of winning. Leicesters success has been a one off which is unlikely to happen again. Would it be better for English football if the Billionaires broke away and started a European league.?. This would enable the rest to join a reformed Football league of perhaps three divisions which would provide a level of competition which would give more clubs a chance of winning the top prize. Is this feasible? or are we stuck with a competition which only six teams have a chance of winning ?.
Everyone wants a seat at the top table..... No matter what the top table is. Result based promotion and relegation is fundemental to out game.
wouldnt be the top prize either would it any one of the 72 could get to the prem ok winning it is harder but you can get there based on your idea why not make the Euros only 8 countries or the world cup 4 countries
The thinking behind my post was that money/agents have ruined what was the football league. I was wondering if getting rid of the billionaires would make it a more level playing field. The truth is money talks and we are stuck with what we have.
In theory you're righ WC, nut the big money is ruining many sports. Look at the golf fiasco at the olympics. All top golfers pulling out and the real reason is they'd lose three weeks earnings if they go. Tennis is a closed shop between three or four players
Same as soccer. The top players get paid a heap more for playing for their club than for representing their country, and money talks !!
