Of course they can. Our constitution, being unwritten, works by precedent. What we have just participated in was not an election, it was a plebiscite, and there is no precedent in our country for government by plebiscite. None.

The Tories can't survive on membership fees alone either. They need corporate support.

I asked the same question in post #8983 mate.

I think it depends on the public mood at the point of any parliamentary vote. If there'd been a massive shift in public opinion since the referendum then you could argue that the correct moral decision would be to vote against, but I suppose the key to that will be the feeling on the ground in each MP's constituency.
It's a decision that each and every MP would have to make for themselves and the conclusion they reach should be the one that allows them to look themselves in the mirror.......

You haven't handed my arse to me on anything, I recall it as being the other way around. It's still on here, I can do what, Treble, is incapable of doing, I can re-post it; do you want me to? Does your vivid imagination and natural ****ishness really make that necessary, again?

I've left you alone and moved on, I have agreed with some of what you have said, as I thought it reasonable and I give credit where due.

You were made to look like the pompous **** you appear to be, it's rankling with you, get over it is my advice, enjoy your suffering and move on. <ok>

I wasn't talking about you, I would have thought that was obvious! But clearly not.

    And, talking of pompous arses!....

I thought that the introduction of the CDM regulations was credited with improving fatatilities within the construction industry. If this is the case, then this is British legislation as CDM is not adopted in the EU.

'Until I started slagging you to someone else' <laugh> I have a different recollection and would ask you to re-post it (as it is you making another daft accusation)

I always said I simply posted an opinion, I never claimed to be an expert; my mistake, it would seem was fundamentally disagreeing with you (and your cronies) and asking that we deal with real facts and not claim random opinion to be fact. I have an open mind and have liked a number of posts from posters I don't necessarily agree with.

Regardless of whatever grudge you have developed, do you believe telling lies and maintaining them to try and discredit me is good? You make yourself look foolish, you certainly make yourself an untrustworthy poster. I think you're really quite sad. <doh>

Don't get her going again. Lives were being saved when we were nothing to do with the EU and was a consequence of the 1974 Act, which formed the basis of the EU regs. Even triggers google c+p said as much. It's a fanciful leap to claim the EU saved us.

That's not to say they did us harm, but other legislation, needed to be written to accommodate the whole of the EU and so isn't always as rigid as it possibly would be if written for the UK specifically. Watching some builders in Spain shows it's certainly not enforced as rigidly.

Let's face it, our legislation doesn't let us hurt foxes, never mind having performers gored by soon to be dead bulls.

CDM are the regulations that ensure the UK comply with directive 92/57 EEC and directive 89/391 EEC. Other EU countries have their own versions of CDM but all are in response to EU directives

We did this earlier, you had no response, piped down and shut the **** up about it.

No-one has said that the EU 'saved us' in respect of H&S, merely that the EU directives have contributed to safer working environments, this is a simple fact. As a consequence death rates have fallen by 2/3rds in 24 years, your refusal to accept any correlation simply makes you look like a belligerent fool.

    This is what you wrote:

This (below) is what BobbyD wrote in direct response to you and you then responded with that nonsense above.

Do you still say you weren't speaking of me!?

You are either pissed (again) and incapable of making a plausible link or you're telling fibs.
