Sorry matee, typo there ....... I meant to say, "I don't really agree on this one Bri ............. you can't just get 'treatment' for everything. He's also a compulsive liar, is that treatable and who would pay for all these problems." What I'm saying is that there are more important things, for the NHS to spend money on, that getting gays to 'come out' and compulsive liars to quit it. Gascoigne has been sectioned more than once, examined by various doctors and released. People keep saying he's seriously mentally ill and suffers from all manner of things ...... mostly without any proof.
a good team could be picked from players who suffered from alcoholism,RobinFriday,Greaves, best,Adams,Gazza, must be many more, Kenny Sansom , Malcolm McDonald, Paul McGrath, Tony Cascarino,Paul Merson, and a goalkeeper Roy Carroll ...............clough as manager ,carlsberg did do footballers
I was more concerned about Major, I'm sure that wimp could turn quick in a phone box and come out looking like 'Super John Major' Then again maybe not, oh well **** that....
TBH Tel, when I look at my missus and her daily life of suffering and bed bound, non self-inflicted just a sad thing at birth and look at him in this photo with all the plastic sympathy for once playing football, I could puke. We really have our priorities wrong in this **** hole of a Country..
He will mate for the rest of his days but it's probably Edwina they are keeping out or Norma's knitting club..
Do you think him and that Jim Bellies dude? You know, had a peck, maybe a snog? Didn't want to go this far but maybe shared a bed or two?
But thing is, the amount of money the Tax payer has already spent on him through the NHS, policing and courts will completely eclipse what it would have cost it to do the job properly in the first place. The circle harms the country not just the individual. It's a false economy. Our front line services hemorrhage money on people who substance abuse to mask mental illness. It's an area which needs radical political reform imo. It doesn't matter what the underlining issues actually are to me, whether it's hiding sexuality, loss of a loved one, being a victim of child abuse or any of the other countless reasons a person can get so damaged, what matters is how it's ****ed them up, and helping them to recognise it, accept it, deal with it emotionally and change the behavior that's associated with it. Rather than just masking it with detoxes and prescription drugs. I firmly and passionately believe it will lead to happier people, money saved and would benefit the country greatly.
Well he seems to prefer to spend time with big burly blokes than women. He's had fame & fortune, so attractive to a certain type of woman, but he's very rarely seen with one. He seems a bit of a woman hater after what he did to his wife ........ please log in to view this image
My overall point is that Gascoigne may, or may not, have a series of mental illnesses. Unless he'd prepared to 'chip in' and admit he needs help or ask for help, with certain things, what can the state do? He can't be dragged in and forced to admit he's gay, for example, so how can you help him with that? There's a possibility that he's just a weak willed individual who likes getting pissed and has the means and opportunity to do it every day.
So basically what you are saying, is if you were leaving a cafe bar, you wouldn't ask him to push your stool in?
As someone who hasn't had a drink for well over a decade i can assure everyone that the first step is recognising you have a 'big' problem yourself. Without 'wanting' to be better, all the help in the world is worthless.
I don't really have any sympathy for him as such, it's sad, but he always treated alcohol as a joke and I don't believe that somewhere along the line before he was in too deep, nobody pulled him to one side and told him he was losing control. This story is close to home for me, alcohol wrecks families and leads to violence all too often, to me and this is only from my point of view, sometimes they're just better off in the ground, as cold and heartless as it may seem, this is the case for my family.
You think you just ask and get? No no, not in this country. I don't doubt for a second he's asked for help on multiple occasions. But it's not for him to diagnose and treat his own mental illness, any more than it is to expect anybody to diagnose a physical illness in themselves. that's the duty of the the state. You really think if he 'came out' if that's even an issue, that all his mental health problems would suddenly be solved and he'll be able to sustain a dry lifestyle with a rich fulfilling life? No chance in hell. Maybe I should just pull myself together and all my problems will be behind me. If mental illness was that easy solved it wouldn't exist. You're too flippant on this for me friend. Mental health has way more depth than you're depicting. So on that, I withdraw from this discussion cause it's starting to vex me.
