Went out with no duds on to get some more booze.

Depressing and sad, but he has been given way more help than most alcoholics get. He keeps falling back off the wagon.

Sad but the inevitable is coming. If he wasn't so famous he'd have been left to rot ages ago!

I think the only way he's gonna save his life is if he finds 'god' or something.

Bout time the state upheld it's duty of care to him and section him and start undoing the damage which makes him drink instead of focusing solely of the act of drink itself, some that this failing NHS does repeatedly and has done as long as I can remember. Fighting the symptoms and not problem itself just leads to people caught in vicious circles like Gazza here.

He's lost the ability to look after himself and to stand any chance of saving him he needs to be taken of the streets and given close support with a care plan containing intensive Cognitive Behavioral and Occupational therapies. Not just being locked away to dry out. Without the right treatment he will die.

For sure it's an illness mate, one of the most addictive substances going.

I'm not sure, but I think if you just stop drinking your body reacts badly to it, in a way. I think you need some sort of meds to help you off it, I might be wrong mind.

It's an illness bought on by another illness though, you can't fix one with trying to fix the other at the same time. But somebody will stump up the money and back to rehab he'll go. Where, they'll make sure every physical aspect of the recovery is catered for to the best standard that money can buy, then pack him on his way in a 6 months time.

The fact he's got to this state and is still free shows the Mental health system in this county is failing him. There's clearly no safegaurds in place to monitor him to prevent him from getting into this state. If they can't do that there's no way he's getting the required mental health treatment.

It's so sad and frustrating. This man is very very poorly. So dreadfully damaged and self loathing. He needs years of sectioning with the right treatment. Not the 6 months rehab, released and then forgotten about like he's getting again and again. :(

The cycle is just prolonging his misery. It's very cruel. So sad for him. Heartbreaking.

I can't imagine what it must feel like for his old team mates to see him going through this.

They live mainly a very privileged lifestyle, and they're watching helplessly as he thrashes around in the gutter, he was better than every one of them.

    Same as George Best.

Part of his problem is that he's tormented by his homosexuality and can't admit it, probably not even to himself.

If he'd 'come out' years ago he might've been able to live his life the way he really wanted to.

If it is part of the underlining issue then absolutely, he needs the treatment to deal with that.

    Seriously?

Haway man Tel, in his time he's knocked women around, spends his time with his 'mates', dresses like a tart, wears make up, etc.

Oh yeah, and he goes out in public wearing false tits <laugh>

I don't really agree on this one Bri ............. you can just get 'treatment' for everything.

He's also a compulsive liar, is that treatable and who would pay for all these problems.

I've never judged folk on their actions since finding out Eddie Izzard wasn't gay.

That's different, he's a self confessed transvestite entertainer.

Be honest mate, if you saw any other bloke on the planet, looking like this, what would be your first thought?

    PS, not John Major <laugh>

Well from my personal experience you can't. The treatment is there, it's just isn't offered because their simply isn't the funding to cater therapy to everyone who needs it. It's a lottery. So we'll have to agree to disagree. <ok>

I'd probably think he's been shopping in Liverpool.

I guess he might be but his best mate is that fat pie man who looks the most not-gay you can get.
