Lets assume you bought your local corner shop, raised the cash, invested in it, new shelving, till, lights and then new stock.

You provide a good workplace for staff, pay them well and when your best staff member ****s up, do you sack him, no, you help him and support him.

He then asks for a pay rise, you make him what you think is a good offer, he refuses it.

You come to open up one morning and find a note in the window, from your staff member telling your customers what an arsehole you are. Do you sack him, no, you have a quiet word.

A week later a new bigger note telling your customers he could tell them a thing or two about you, do you sack him, maybe yes.

Just trying to look at things through Ashleys eyes.

    It's football!

When you put it in the way that you just have, you make it sound like he has done the right thing though <ok>

And if he continues these notes for nearly a year? (accounting for Barton's pre-twitter charity dinners)

This is a football club not a corner shop or any other business. You're not dealing with standard employees, a completely different set of rules apply.

Players aren't quite like staff though. They're like commodities, like stock.

Say I buy shares in British Airways, the shares make me a lot of money and are the shining light in my portfolio. Martin Broughton comes out on television and calls me an arsehole. I only have 12 months left with this stock before it's compulsory for me to part with it for whatever reason.

**** name calling, I'm on to a good thing. I'm not fussed about being called names, I'm a grown up man who owns a valuable asset that doing wonders for me. Will hold on to it for as long as I can regardless of whether it calls me a ****, runs over my mum or sleeps with my wife.

Yeah but this is why things like this are happening - Ashley is treating the club just like a normal business when it's not, it's a football club where things are run much differently!

In all honesty, I don't want to particularly debate about all this for days and days and days. We're all going to have conflicting views and if I'm being bluntly honest... I have no ****ing clue who or what to believe. It's just like the Carroll and Nolan sagas all over again.. and most other transfers before that. Was he pushed, did he jump, who's fault is it, who can I blame, I need to let some anger out at something, etc etc etc. The media is ****ed up, we all know that. It can twist views and quotes one way or another, and there's bound to be some sort of bias mixed in there somewhere.

I just wanna focus on WHO we're getting in to replace him.. and IF, most importantly....

****in' bring on the season already, SICK of the transfer window. It's irritating.

But why, a kick in the teeth is a kick in the teeth, when does Barton take some responsibility?

But when does an assett become a liability?

Imagine you invest in a wobbly lemonade stand, pump money into it by nailing a few extra boards to secure it. While you're doing this kids go to little Jimmy's lemonade stand across the road and people blame you for this. You start getting your lemons delivered from London and people are upset that you're taking away the local identity of the lemonade.

The local kid who goes around keying cars but is otherwise misunderstood asks to have a go selling lemonade, you give him a chance. After sleeping on the job in the morning he then does really well, your lemonade is selling quite well but other people still see him as the local bully. You stand by him.

Some French exchange students arrive in town and you feel they'll give your lemonade stand more appeal, meanwhile your current kid starts complaining, says he isn't getting paid enough, that you're mean to him and that he doesn't like working on a stand that uses London-sourced lemonade. He starts telling kids that you smell.

Since you're the one who fixed up the stand you ask him nicely to stop badmouthing him, you gave him a job when others wouldn't. He says that when the school holidays are over he's going to leave because he doesn't like you but still wants paying. He sticks up a sign on the stand saying, "this lemonade stand was made by a nobhead". You're pretty annoyed when you see it and tell him AGAIN to stop doing it.

He gives you a very public wedgie and says you're bullying him. You tell him to get lost since you now have a queue of kids waiting to sell lemonade for you.
Nobody wants this kid to sell their lemonade as he's such a trouble-maker so he starts telling the new French kids not to trust you as you're a meaniepants. The local parents hear and demand that someone else takes charge and the trouble maker just sneers at you as he's holding onto him mum as she berates you.

When that commodity is having a negative effect on your overall stock not just the club but also the in workings such as the team.

Then it's not just a bit of name calling.

What is Barton doing internally, if the stuff at Leeds is true?

When it stops doing what you expect it to, forgive me if I'm wrong but Newcastle signed Barton thinking he was a horrible individual but a quality player.

If anything he's become a better individual and a better player.

A few tweets here and there are nothing compared to fighting on the street, stubbing cigars out on youth players eyes and so on a so forth.

What a load of ****, professional football is still work, you get paid to do a job, being a professional footballer doesn't give you the right to talk bollocks like that about your boss, regardless of how big a **** everybody knows he is.
