There's a sports radio show on 5Live called Fighting Talk, which is notorious for using Wikipedia for material. They have in the past used it to incorrectly identify languages people speak, relatives people have, countries people are from etc. I don't see the attraction there, that's just unhumourous misinformation. As a Watford fan I would note that they once quoted the line "Will Buckley denies eating rabbits, despite a recent outbreak of rabbit eating in the area". But to give FT their due they do get involved in more intelligent stuff. There was an episode about two and a half years ago, featuring Tom Watt (Lofty from Eastenders) and Greg Brady (Canada's top sports pundit). It started off with Tom Watt being introduced. Colin Murray quoted his Wikipedia article, which had been edited to include the line "Tom Watt's witty asides are considered by many to be what has kept Fighting Talk going into its sixth series." Brady compared this to saying that Jermaine Pennant was the reason Liverpool were top of Premier League, which they actually were at the time. My then-flatmate decided to edit his article to say something along the lines of "In January 2009, Brady stated that Jermaine Pennant was the reason Liverpool were top of the Premier League", which Colin Murray duly read out on air.
People changing Wiki really gets to me... I'm not going to go on an angry rant, it's not cool though...
In my spare time, I like to pick an obscure celebrity and edit their Wikipedia page to include an amusing "fact". I then send the link to friends and ask them to spot the addition. It is an amazing game.
It's really not... Wikipedia is maintained by volunteers, so someone is going to have to waste their time changing that back... I hope you and your friends have fun though
No, really, it is!! I tell you what, when I have some spare time later this evening, I will give you a game of "Wikipedia Challenge". I will make an amendment to an article, post the link, and see if you get it within a specified time. You have to be quick because those pesky volunteers work fast...
BBW , afraid I must agree with Toby , when searching for info on possible signings , it is really annoying coz I cant trust the site anymore! I also disagree with giving volunteers a higher workload !
