.. his position became untenable ... is there really much diference in what Labour MPs are doing to Corbyn to what Boris johnson, Gove and IDS have done to Cameron? ... all boils down to a vote of no confidence in your leader ... surely?

it was the referendum result that caused him to resign
that's very different to people saying you are useless as a leader

Tobes hit the nail. He rather stupidly gave his own right wing the opportunity to stab him in the back. They took it!....

He staked his political career on a massive gamble that failed to come off. He'll be viewed in hindsight as a seat of the pants PM who hung his balls out once to often.
Whichever way you try and dress it up he failed.

Corbyn has also failed, hence the reason he's found himself on the rack.

The only difference between the pair of them is that at least Cameron had the good grace to do the right thing, albeit I also think that he didn't want to face the task ahead and to some extent bottled it.

A lot of the small businesses felt hampered by existing EU interference.. A fair number of people found their industry destroyed or moved by EU interference.

The 'remain' title is a misnomer, as their was no realistic option for a status quo.

It boils down to a vote of no confidence in politicians, experts and the EU elite.

Reports that Leadsom is about to pull out of the Tory leadership contest. Truly awful as a robust political process and for democracy.

Not a shambles at all <doh>

Further reports state Andrea Leadsom to quit the leadership contest because "the abuse has been too much". To use those infamous words of Theresa May, not "the nasty party" at all <laugh>

You mean by the likes of employment law & H&S legislation? 80% of the CBI membership wanted to remain.

Innovation projects in this country are virtually exclusively funded with EU cash.

... <laugh> ... would Corbyn have been facing this revolt right now if there hadn't been a referendum? ... you can dress it up how you like but when it comes down to it the referendum was also a divine opportunity for the 'ambitious' and also the disaffected within both parties to further their own personal aims... by not upporting their leader the tory right wing seriously damaged Cameron's leadership credentials ... if you can't see that, fair enough ...

I think what a lot of this shows is how fragile the current system is. Politicians in general are self serving, rather than public serving, and the political battles in various countries are shameful.

The financial market seems to have the temperament of a flighty horse, panicking at a leaf blowing by. Even those that support the market forces, seem to have little confidence in its ability to cope successfully.

Maybe the time is coming for a radical shake up of the whole set up.

Employment law and H&S legislation was in place before the EU. In fact it was possibly stronger and would have better protection for issues such as zero hour contracts. The CBI are largely protective of larger industries and the expense of the smaller ones.

The EU cash for innovation is actually UK cash repackaged and with conditions and side controls.

They'll be too scared to carry out a radical shake-up. It's like a bloody paradox or catch 22!

I'm going to bring that back to Leadsom. Her withdrawal for what appears to be the reasons given, is precisely why public serving politicians will never have a chance. You have to be media savvy and that requires a particular type of person - dare I say self-serving type - to succeed.

But it was to all intents and purposes, ringfenced. That UK cash is no longer guaranteed to reach those targets anymore.

Cope with what successfully? The markets are the markets, it's a financial supply and demand trading post. How can you remove yourself from the ups and downs of market forces without becoming a Communist state?

Politicians largely self serving - no **** <laugh>, this is hardly a new phenomenon. What's changed of late is the way they feel they can dump their supposed beliefs at the drop of a hat in order to back the horse that they consider would be the best career move. Boris being a prime example - albeit it blew up in his face, but that doesn't alter the fact that his motives were clear, and they were to the detriment of his actual beliefs.

Leadsom messed up her chances by her statement about being a mother.
