Scotland and the other home nations literally obsess over England's failures. Where as England generally couldn't care less wether Scotland win or lose, it never has been something we give a toss about. Scotland see us as the main rivals, where as we barely notice Scotland even being there. We have bigger fish to fry than worrying about them.
Tennis is for posh twats. Probably the most boring sport going, along with Cricket. Only good if a couple of fit woman are playing.
I'd say there are worse sports to watch than tennis Tour de France - hour upon hour of waiting for the motorcycle cameraman to crash into some one but it never happens Snooker - not like real life is it? You never get someone come up and put 50p on the table and say "Next go" Gymnastics - never quite get the pause button to stop in the right place
So Scotland has 1 good sportsman, but only the 4th best of his generation. So Scotland didn't celebrate the 40 odd gold medals Britain won at the last Olympics, most of them won by English competitors. Murray represents Great Britain, so ofcourse some English will support him, the same as plenty of Scots will support English competitors when they are playing for Great Britain. It seems any time Scotland get anyone half decent at anything, they latch onto then like English people shouldn't support them, yet you all voted to be a part of the UK. The truth is though there are a lot more English athletes representing Great Britain than Scottish.
I love snooker, one of my favourite sports. Miles better than Tennis, and you can play it when you're out of shape and pissed. A great sport IMO
Football aside we are actually good, and have had success at most other sports recently. Scotland's efforts in football is just as miserable though, if not more so. Wales, and the 2 Ireland's have proved that being a small country is no excuse.
