This is my final assessment on this after EURO 16 - One thing is now certain; Pogba is NOT worth £100m. For any player to even be seen as remotely close to that valuable, they would need to be able to fully carry a team just like Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo. He may become this player in the near future but he is not there yet. He still needs to be part of a good team to be successful rather than carrying the team. Thus, I would be disappointed if we end up paying way over the odds for him. Don't get me wrong, I would sincerely love to see him return to OT, but not for £100m.
haha. I thought I removed that sht. I was writing work emails as well taking care of important matters on NOT606!
It is expensive just like Pogba. But I'm the salesman trying to sell it to the Woodwards of this world.
Just like some players' values are enhanced by international tournaments, some are reduced. Pogba did well at club level in the Italian league. That's a better indication. If Real have pulled out, United should be able to get him for less than the £100m asked. Who else can afford him? Juventus say they want to keep him but in 2-3 years time his value would have decreased anyway.
Does Monty refer to Monty Python by any chance? You do understand there is a difference between giving a player away and a player refusing to sign a contract don't you?
Several times during the tournament Henri commented that Pogba had been asked to play a specific role in midfield during the tournament rather than his usual, more attacking game. The Pogba we saw during the tournament wasn't a player at his best, but someone disciplined and intelligent enough to play in a specific way for the good of the team. He may not have set the tournament alight as many had hoped, but there were glimpses of a very special talent and the fact that he was prepared to play a certain role for his team on the biggest stage of his career so far speaks volumes for his character. Latest - Pogba's agent suggesting he may stay at Juve - http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-could-yet-at-juventus-says-agent-mino-raiola Little minx of an agent forgets to mention that he gets 25% of any transfer fee - so the choice is £0 for staying at Juve or £25 million for persuading Pogba to sign for us ........................................
That is bullsht from Henry. He still had time to get forward. Also when France was losing in the final, I am sure as hell Pogba would have been instructed to go back to doing what he does best rather than just playing "intelligently". He had an average tournament, end of!! The world needs to stop making stupid excuses for it. Does it mean Pogba is an average player? I don't think so. Even Messi has had some average tournaments. So we shouldn't read too much into. The whole transfer could also be playing on his mind as he tries a little harder which leads to average play all around. And for goodness sakes, perhaps he should now stop dying parts of his hair given his football skills failed to match the flair. The Agent can't force the player to leave. If Pogba wants to stay, he has to respect that. Apparently, he would be offered £130k/week which is less than what we would have offered him. Still I like players to make choices that they deem best for them rather than running after money. If he wants to come to us, it should be for the right reasons rather than simply just what we would be paying.
The agent won't get 25% of the transfer fee. He might get 5-10%. So he would be in for £5-10m. He'll get 10-20% of a new wage deal. I don't know what Pogba's on but say he convinces Juve to up his wage to £200k a week on a 5 year deal, the package is £50m so the agent is in for £5-10m. The agent never loses.
I'd be very excited if we get Pogba. Even at £100m. But if he decides to stay at juventus, I won't be that disappointed if we get someone with similar abilities (if not quite in the same class). Matuidi? Matic? Alli? We need more physicality and pace in that midfield. Whether it is due to the players or to LVG, it has been ponderous. And if I am honest, for all the criticism of Jose's Chelsea (first vintage) they were never as pedestrian and sleep inducing as LVG 's United.
I'd be pretty embarrassed if we spent £100m on Pogba. Yeh, Manchester United and Manchester itself are so **** that it costs £100m to get him. Epic. I'd hope Mourinho was competent enough not to have to do that.
We should only be embarrassed if he's a flop. Not impossible I admit. But if he turns out to be the missing piece, then he would have been worth that and more.
http://www.espnfc.com/story/2911830...million-poundsa-waste-of-money-emmanuel-petit A source close to negotiations has told ESPN FC that a move for the player, who has been linked with an imminent switch to his former club Manchester United, is not close to completion, while his agent has said the Premier League side are not the only team interested in his signature. Petit, who won 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as a France player, told Yahoo Sport UK: "Imagine what you can do with £100m. Imagine you have given away your best car and, after a couple of years, you miss it so you want it back. Would you be happy with that? It's a waste of money for me. For £100m, I would buy [Luis] Suarez. "Pogba has a great future, but it is too early. I don't like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star for me." Petit explained that he does not think Pogba has delivered enough yet on the domestic or international stage. He added that it is embarrassing to see the adulation the player is already receiving. Petit said: "He hasn't reached the level of the Champions League yet or the international level with the national team. I am pretty sure he can do it, but this is too early. "People talk about him all the time in the press, sending him flowers all the time, and I'm embarrassed about that. I haven't seen the real Pogba yet. I am sure he has got the potential to reach his targets. For the moment, I am not really convinced." The former Arsenal midfielder also questioned why Real Madrid wouldreportedly back away from signing the player if he was worth such a lofty fee. He said: "It's not a question of money with Madrid. When they want a player, they put the money on the table, and that's it and they win it. If they don't want to fight with Manchester United for £100m, there is a reason behind that."
