As you say earlier it's amazing how we react when we had something to shout about. I can only comment on Everton & Chelsea as I wasn't at the away games, but they were truly something we've not experienced in years.

My comment earlier was meant firmly tongue in cheek, btw!!

I have heard somewhere that the original chant came from Motherwell supporters and was copied by the Icelanders..

One of the talking points of Euro 2016 - Iceland's Viking chant captured the imagination of the continent as they celebrated knocking England out.

But did you know that the rhythmic clap, seen as the ultimate sign of unity between players and supporters, actually originates from Motherwell supporters?

The Steelmen's Well Bois, who occupy one corner of Fir Park's East Stand, performed the ritual as part of their song 'Since I was Young' during their Europa League clash with Icelandic side Stjarnan back in July 2014.

And fans of the Icelandic team decided to adopt their own version, taking it on to the national team as they secured qualification for this summer's finals in France.

We've had so little to cheer about, for so long, that we've been good considering.

Even our big moments, like the League Cup semi-final, were away from the SOL.

Because of my location I get to more away games and have felt sorry for people who only go to home games.

Some of the football, under Bruce, MON & Poyet, was soul destroying.

Really hope we don't do it. I like to see new things, done with passion. but seeing Wales and then France doing it, I found quite nauseating. Copying someone else's thing trying to make it look as if they were the first looks embarrassing

Probably Middlesboro over the speakers to make it sound like they have more than 6 fans.

Right, forgot about the Motherwell thing. This was on the bigger stage though, so Iceland will probably always get the credit. Bit like the Mexican wave, which gained fame at the Mexico world cup, hence name, but had already originated in American college football.

The SOL Sound maybe, the Roker Roar will never be replicated anywhere on earth it was built into the old Roker End in its heyday before its capacity was reduced.
