I've had money on France since way before tournament so that's my pick, but I'm one of those who is a massive Ronaldo fan and would like to see him crown his career with an international trophy.

Before reading this thread I wanted Portugal to win because if I watch it I will enjoy seeing the large home crowd fall silent. However after being reminded of the **** the French have had to put up with regarding bombs, terrorism etc, resulting in me suffering from guilt over my original choice of winner, then I wont mind seeing them win it. Anyhow I probably wont be watching it anyway. Ive watched few games and the ones that I have watched have been shocking.

France for me. For many of the reasons already mentioned. They could do with some good news for a change.

And nothing to do with the fact I love France, the food, the wine, the golf course, the wine, the beaches, the countryside, the wine.

    Did I mention the wine?

Didn't French hooligans mindlessly attack a bunch of English fans unprovoked in Lyon?

    C'mon Ronnie!

They'd go a long way to redeem themselves if they knew they could buy antiperspirant deodorant at the supermarkets.

At least the mozzies don't stink of bo!

We've been to almost every region and it's endlessly fascinating is't it, huge diversity.

The last time we drove down we went across the Pyrenees and took the ultra-scenic route where some of the roads were really dodgy.

Some of the people were working in traditional clothes and were a bit shy talking to strangers. We went in a bar and there was no TV or any modern stuff and people were coming in to use the telephone, no kidding. The kids were asking us all kinds of mad questions as if we'd gone back 200 years in time.

Sounds like just north of the tyne!

Most of our holidays early on were down around Frejus. Its beautiful down there.

Our last 6 or so were in Brittany.

My favourite place is Biarritz. Might have something to do with the casino though <laugh>

Yeah we lived in St Tropez, for couple of years, and liked getting the ferry to St Raphael.

We'd take the mountain bikes, get off through Frejus for lunch then bike it home ....... couldn't manage both ways in that heat though <doh>

Our oldest allies against our oldest enemies...no contest! Come on Portugal! On the other hand, if France win we may get to see Ronaldo cry....so it's win-win.

Our oldest allies yes. Who never lifted a finger, never mind set sail a ship in support.

    Come on France!

Until I play golf in Portugal :emoticon-0136-giggl

I/we want France for no other reason apart from the fact my youngest has had them in the sweep at school since the beginning and that I would love to throat punch Ronaldo
