Froome now takes the Yellow Jersey 16 seconds ahead of another Brit Adam Yates. Expect some serious attacks by his challengers tomorrow.

Yates in White Jersey as best young rider and Cavendish in Green Jersey as top Points scorer...

Great move by Froome yesterday. Glad to see Martin in the Top 5 ..... long may it last.

Off to France on Monday. Will see the Carcassonne stage on the 13th.

Bike is also on the back of the car. Have been training (not enough!) for Mont Ventoux, a few days after the Tour climbs it on July 14th. A few prayers would be nice.....thanks.....

Tra Mor, I hit 79kph coming down off Mt Leinster last week. To be honest, the only concern is if you hit a patch of stone chipping or those very rare things on Irish roads........potholes!

It is a good rush though! :)

I had to drive the support van up Mont Ventoux and it was the easiest of the mountains to drive up until you get to the last mile. Once on the peak it's an eye opener and a bit scary. The road is narrow and it was typical that when i driving on it a big van was coming the other way. As it squeezed past i looked over the cliff face and sh2t myself! It was windy as hell and the van was a nightmare to drive. However, it was great going down.

I didn't cycle mate, i was support and drove the van. Too much for me doing all that cycling. The riders were fab and took me out to dinner every night and gave me a trophy for every stage i completed. I must say if you ever get a chance (even if its a short break), get over there and see these mountains. I will never forget it. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sounds great Ellers. Really looking forward to heading up Ventoux, reaaalllll sloooooow (just because I want to make sure I take in the view you're talking about - nothing to do with the fact that I'll only be able to do around 8kph going up, ahem!).

I give full respect for anyone cycling up those mountains especially 'Alpe D' Huez' (which is my favourite) and Ventoux. It's like trees are either side of you most of the way and you don't realise it's a mountain, then they disappear and you realise you are on the top of the World (amazing). Lets us know how you get on. :emoticon-0148-yes:

never been the same since that drug fiasco. Shame as he was a great rider. Doubt he will ever be a challenger again.

Myself and my 15yr old daughter were at the TdF today. 3hrs before the peleton came through we rode one of the intermediate climbs, 2.5km at 5.4% gradient. No bother to her. At this rate she'll be leaving her old dad in her wake before the holidays are out!

Great buzz going up the climb with hundreds of people shouting "Allez, Allez". A few Brits, fair play, gave their encouragement too (it must have been the Irish cycling jersey I was wearing, or, they just wanted the young one to leave her Dad in her dust). :)

It's days like that which make it all worthwhile!

Yep, got a nice picture of Dan shoulder to shoulder with Froome coming through one of the towns.

Dan's doing well but Froome has been there before and will gain the seconds on the rest of the GC contenders as time goes on.

Serious wind down here today and I see they've shortened the Mont Ventoux finish tomorrow, now finishing half way up as winds are expected to hit 100kph. A pity, as I was looking forward to seeing them finish on the top. No point having bikes blown off the mountain though!

Nice one. I remember chatting to so many people from places like Sweden, Norway, Denmark who follow the Tour around. Great community.
