    Totally agree..
If we pay big tIme for a #1 striker and Ayew stays , where do we play Ayew ? 4 goals in his last 3 games tells me he is warming to the striker position and Ayew will be our # 1 striker . Fer is a back up striker and if Kanu comes in we are done in the striker position . Now if players like Ayew , Siggy and Williams leave , they must be replaced as I've said from the beginning .
If they stay , we in a want position , not a need IMO , and that's the best position to be in .

The truth of the matter is ...no good striker = poor season = possible relegation. Everyone moaned last season how we were the better team in a lot of games where everyone was doing a good job except every striker that played who was the weakest link..... The longer we leave the most important and expensive position unfilled the more danger we will put our chances of staying in the premiership....You cant just rely on the midfield scoring as that is needed as well and we must have a proper striker who should be the top scorer with any club. Jenkins has been given the overall responsibility from the owners so he needs to drop this lower league mentality and open the clubs cheque book and pay the going rate for what a top striker goes for today. We dont just want to survive we want to be in with a chance of winning things....

So if Jenkin's " Opens the Cheguebook " and pays major for a striker and Ayew stays , where does Ayew play ? ... As far as I'm concerned , the chequebook for a top striker is closed because of Ayew . Agree or not , that's the scoop . Now if a " Bargain " striker comes up and Gomis leaves , were in like flint capturing him .
If Gomis and Ayew leave , that big time striker " Chequebook " opens wide . Just seems like good business .

What do you mean where does he play ? He plays in his proper position, He was not brought here for a strikers position roof. He has been forced playing a strikers roll as he is the best of the bad bunch we have and as he is not a proper striker then he wont score as many goals as a good striker as we have seen.....We have money so Jenkins has no excuse even though he should not be anywhere near choosing players anyway.......Its a joke to go on tour with no proper striker and its an even bigger joke not to have already sorted this out last season leave alone this season.... If we have another bad season and this time we go down the fans will be saying why did we not buy a striker good enough....we need to open our cheque book and soon and spend some of that money we have amassed over the last 5 seasons...

I feel we need another 15 goal player and agree it is important that he can lead the line. It is ok to say Ayew can get as many next season as he did last but he is not really the type to lead the line and who is the backup if he gets injured or is on international duty. Can we afford to wait and see whether someone like Mcburnie or Gorre, who is not the traditional lead the line player, can step up. I certainly don't want to see Gylfi or Fer, who are the other alternatives, playing out of position to do this.

Well we are in the market imo for one striker only if Gomis leaves, and that's it, we may go for someone who can step up as I said above, but that will be the maximum I feel. As for injuries when it happens we cope, and all other teams are in the same boat if one of theirs get injured. We can't be buying players just in case someone gets injured, we are not a Utd or Chelsea.

The only other way to get someone is to loan them from teams like we've done in the past. I think we've spent about £5m already on players, the limit will be about £20m like other Windows, so we have about £15m to get what players we need.

Is this the same Ayew that went missing from October to March? We cannot rely on him for goals. We need an out, and out striker who will get us 15 league goals next season.

We won't be getting much quality then with that. We need a new LB, RB, CM/DM and a striker - all players to come straight into the starting line up. That £15 million, will not be an improvement on the players that we already have, and this summer it's vital that we buy players that will improve the starting 11.

Same guy , I wanted to sell him and spend it on a striker in the January window .
BUT ... He stayed and was put in a striker role from October to March and THEN actually started STRIKING pretty good . We played some of our best stuff the last few games and Ayew was our striker scoring for fun during those games .Another thing about Ayew as a striker , he causes penalties . At least a few and should have been a few more is my memory serves me .
For all intents and purposes , Ayew , with us , is a STRIKER .... our main one .
Unless he gets sold , or we pay big money
And Dai , I really don't want Ayew back on the wing ....I'd rather sell him for the money .
Bony only full season with us , scored 18 goals and we luckily won 3 of our last 4 games to reach 43 points ..... our lowest , for whatever reasons .
We broke our transfer record on a very good striker and had our worst point total since we've been up .
We got 4 more points than that last season without a dominant striker .

I think we should be relegated and put us out of our misery like Jenkins is aiming for...We can then be a rich club in the lower leagues where your quid is safer with Jenkins than any bank....<laugh>

We don't need a CM/DM as Fer has just signed for us, and as for a LB, why do we need a new one with both Taylor and Kingsley fighting for that? On a right back we are not desperate for replacement now in this window imo, but could get someone in as Rangel is probably going to retire this season, but that could be done in January or the end of the season coming.

By the way, what do all these teams have in common, who were above us in the league?

    Man Utd
    Liverpool
    West Ham
    Stoke
    Chelsea
    Southampton

None of them had a player who scored 15 goals or above in the last season.

We need a new LB because Kingsley is still inexperienced and Taylor isn't consistent enough.

It looks like the clubs ambition is to just stay in the league, ie signing Fer, I want to see us sign players that will improve us for top 10 finishes and challenge EL spots.

Doing what we have been doing for years, the tour is just a warm up for the team. I am not concerned at all over this. The window has been open for 10 days and we already have 2 players in, we will only be bringing in a further 2-3 players by the end of August when the window closes, unless players leave that we want to keep.

Well for me Kingsley did well for us last season. And Taylor has been excellent for Wales, and can be for the Swans in the coming season. The LB position is well covered.

On staying in this league, we are a mid table team at best, and our ambitions are of that, we can dream of getting into the EL every season, nothing wrong with that, it's just not going to happen though.

Well rumours are great, but they are just that, there are no sources in the article so I'll take this with a rather large pinch of salt.

Now that's the sort of quality I'd like to see us targeting.

Are we? With a little investment, 7-9 is not impossible for us.
