    Pied appeared to have a very good season for Nice statistically (I know, statistics aren't the be all and end all!) and that came under Puel, which gives me hope we may have a better back up then Martina in our squad, with Cedric showing why we bought him last Summer. That seems to be his only good season though, so may have almost been a blip. You'd imagine Puel would know him well enough to know his strengths and weaknesses, same with Koeman and Pelle.

    If the youngsters are good enough then a bang average back up shouldn't block their path. If they're below average then they shouldn't be playing.

    Having three bang-average backups might, however. Because then you need to find time for all of them, and consequently opportunities on the bench or in cup/lesser European matches will go to pacifying squad members, rather than kids.

    Cedric might be better than what he has shown. I just don't like signing a backup to a guy who hasn't really demonstrated that he's more than a backup, to the extent that he lost time last year to the new backup's backup backup.

    From what I've seen he seems to know where the back of the net is, he's not going to dazzle you with his skills, but his goal ratio is actually pretty impressive . He could certainly do a job for us as a different option upfront.

    Here's some info about Big Bad Bas that I like...

    - He's six foot five. Six foot bloody five!

    - In his final season at Heerenven he practically averaged a goal a game for the entire season (32 from 34), and thus finished the league's top scorer.

    - In '14/'15, he was the most efficient striker in the whole of Europe, scoring 18 goals from 54 shots.

    - He's 27 years old. Perfect age.

    - His injury last season was just a broken foot. Not as serious as a ligament, muscle tear etc.

    Last season we scored more corners than any other team, right? Imagine adding this short-arse to the attack.

    Agreed. 5,000 backup right backs shouldn't block a legit talent if we have one and the club assesses that talent correctly.

    There's an argument to be made that 5,000 backup right backs (or even 3) is a waste of money. But it shouldn't hinder player development if we know what we are doing, which hopefully we do.

    Cedric has played in the premier league for all of one season - give the guy a chance. At 24 he could become quite a talent
