Mark Douglas has tweeted that Fat Freddie will be on Talk Sport at 12:30 today FFS, wish he'd crawl back into his oversized box and die.

He has nothing of worth to add, he left the club years ago so will just spout utter bollock about something he knows nothing about.

I'd go so far as to say he was worse.

You know what, even with his crippling debt and many faux pas, I'ld have him over Ashley. It's tight but at least we made progress under Shepherd, I can't see it happening under Ashley, even with the finances more settled, he refuses to make the sensible decision of spending to increase the value of his asset.

typical Freddie .. never mises an opportunity to stick his oar in .. I'm sure he would have done things differently and would 'definitely have reinvested the £35Million back into players" .. I'll not eat my sarnie for lunch if he doesn't say something along those lines .. (notice I'm not cutting off any appendages) <ok>

I would say he is worse.

Freddie likes the sound of his own voice and talks ****.

At least Ashley learned quick that the papers twisted everything he said and did, so shut up shop so to speak.

Ashley's actions speak louder than Freddie's words to me

FFS! I'm not a MA supporter but to say that that fat geordie twat was better or even on a par to MA is bolloxs. Shepherd was a money grabbing leech, we would be dead and buried by now if MA hadn't have bought us. JB has brought all of this on himself - people have mentioned others; Carroll (sold for £35M ffs! every single person on here should be thinking "I would have accepted that"), Enrique (wants Spanish place, needs to go to a champions league/european side), Nolan (wanted a 5 year deal with more money) - good riddance to all of them (I wouldn't be including Enrique if he had had played properly for last 1/3 of the season and not being a prima donna). MA has clearly made it obvious that there is a wage limit and a wage budget, he is sticking to it, no matter who the player is.

Meh, would still have Ashley, he's the lesser of the two evils. It's all good being local lad, who 'reinvests' into the squad, but unless you're doing it wisely then it's only mounting up the clubs debt.

Love him or hate him, we're better off with Mike Ashley.

What about the Keegan saga? Joe Kinnear? Not spending a penny of the money PROMISED to us? We didn't assume it would be reinvested after years of him being tighter than a ducks backside, who would? He put it out there that the money would be reinvested, however, Greggs is richer and we have bought noone in real terms. He has only replaced players, and while I agree, I would take the 35 million for Carroll and I like the fact he has sorted the finances out, the man is a bullsh*tting PR disaster and I for one can't stand him. Freddie progressed this club by taking us into debt, but are you saying that most top clubs don't do this? And are you saying that you'ld rather be a mid-lower table team under constant threat of relegation over having some of those champions league stints of old back again?
Now, I would be foolish not recognise Freddie was a bad owner also, but to me he is the lesser of two evils.

Yup the Keegan saga was a major balls up by MA - JK was just a stop gap. As for FFS we would be in League 1 (we would have gone into admin and Fat Sham would have got us relegated) or maybe worse and bankrupt and disbanded. Oh big deal, MA's pr is ****. Plus with the new impending financial rules, long term wise we will reap the rewards for MA. MA has set the club limits and thankfully he is not backing down to any single person. No, I would prefer to be chopming at the tails of the top 4 - we have a mid table sqaud, I don't think relegation will be an issue and I think we will get 2 more players in. The youngsters look promising (oh yeah that was MA's original plan that he told everyone, self sufficiency - this is what I agree with). FFS would never never never have loaned the club £100M interest free, FFS would never never never give £20M of his own money to pay wages whilst relegated. MA kept most of the squad togetehr for the Championship season.

Ashley didn't have a choice with them loans or paying wages. It was do it or go down. Nobody would have taken our players off us at that wage in the Championship. Who gave Smith, Barton, Nolan, Enrique, Coloccini, Xisco, Jonas etc. these 50k+ excessive wages? Ashley.

I agree, they MA is NOT all bad. I agree with the wage limit etc. As for self sufficiency...I'm sceptical on how productive this is. Ideally, I agree, it's perfect. However, young players want to play and either leave too soon or never get a real opportunity to show their talents (like Kazenga, I've always thought he had some flair that we were lacking). There are of course, the success stories, Carroll, Steven Taylor etc but investment will ALWAYS be necessary in football, and I don't see us getting that side of things from Ashley. I'm not saying spend money senselessly and getting Ba and Marveaux etc are good deals but we need a goal scoring striker and they don't come cheap. This is what i take exception to. Freddie spent with no thought for the safety of our club, but MA only has safety of his finances in mind. We need an owner who is prepared to risk occassionally (like Freddie) whilst trying to obtain talent on the cheap (like Ashley). Why not have a Freddie/Ashley dream team? ........Anyone?

I would not want a FFS again anywhere near this club, never in a million years, ands whats worrying is that in my lifetime FFS wasn't even the worst!
