Does anyone have any pre match rituals or routines they'd like to share? Myself I put my shirt on backwards, without putting my arms in the sleeves, the twist it around half a turn clockwise then put my right arm in the sleeve followed by the left arm. Finally I pat myself on the chest 3 times with both hands. No idea why I do this I just always have. But I'm sure you already knew I was a little nuts. What will you be doing on Saturday before the match? UTG
my ritual? i always, always, always, have to go through something called a `turnstile` and hand over the end of my ticket to some bored student before i can watch any match. call me weird, thats just my thing
Are you the one that always has to leave in the back of police van too? please log in to view this image
My routine is always to go for a pre match beer. Probably some food on the way, avoiding the less quality and higher cost of ground food! I suppose the only actual ritual I have is I tend to where possible go through the same turnstile, an elderly gentleman brought up in the days when you spoke to your punters. Unlike the ticket office where you are generally met with a grunt (don't get me started on the ticket office again!)
If we win, I try to wear exactly the same clothes to the next game as they are lucky, but they become cursed if we lose and I try to avoid them on matchdays
I have lucky (well i hope they are lucky - havent been recently) blue boxers that i have to wear, i also wear these boxers to interviews or anything important
When I played I ALWAYS put my left sock on first, then my right. Followed by left boot first too. Don't know why but rituals are mainly superstition I guess? Now whenever I watch the Gills it's left sock first, then right followed by left trainer. Strange but that's all I got. Otherwise it's hop on the train, walk the same route to the stadium and hope for a win.
i find it hard to believe you wear blue boxers prog seller...your always full of s**t only kidding fella. no routines for me, just support and showing the fact i'm proud to be a GILL !!! the day is near COYB!!!!!
So if and if someone takes a penalty for 3-1 and to complete hatrick in final mins you want them to do a miss?! ?
I always have to go through the same turnstile to the rainham end and touch the wheelie bins that seem to always be parked behind them. The other is to stomach the cold matchday burger which has rubber cheese stuck hard too it.
