I'm not sure if you are trying to insinuate something with the 'agree with usuals' comment but if you are then I would rather you just say it? My post wasn't really agreeing with anyone, if I'm going to agree with a particular person I'll generally quote them.

No one has moaned? I wasn't singling anyone out but there has been plenty of people panicking about only having signed one player so far.

It's the same every Summer. Infact you could probably pick random pages from any of last 3 years and it would genereally be the same conversations

I just think we should wait to see what happens. If it comes to the end of the window and we haven't done a lot then I will be one of the first to vent

 

1. You admitted your tone was off. Don't go back on yourself. Also, you supported bedwetting as an opinion rather than an insult (puerile, eh?).
2. This is not just you, but a clear sense in the responses - which engage with perception of posters and not with views.
3. I meant the club's approach has changed. Not the fan's. Calling it moaning is tedious, btw. But if that's the way you want to be, fine.

 

No judgement or criticism from me. I wouldn't normally be too concerned but I really don't want us to bomb in Europe again.

 

For the record, and if anyone who wants to trawl through my 12,000+ posts wants to check, please do, I have been critical of the Southampton board and management team on more occasions than I care to remember over the last 7 years. What gets me down though, as Beefy and Fats quite rightly say, is the habit that seems to be endemic of panicking (I'll withdraw the bed wetting accusation if it offends) every single summer without fail. Two years ago, we lost Pochettino and the core of the team. The board appointed Koeman, who continued the improvement over the next 2 seasons. There is, as yet, no evidence that the next season or two will be any different, but there are those who have already written off the new manager, our summer transfer window, and by implication, next season. I simply struggle to understand why some people just can't trust the board to get the strategy right, as they have every one of the last 7 years.

 

This has not been the debate at all. It is about the club's direction and the hints it has given as to that. I also believe we will make signings, but of what calibre?

 

How is reducing others' opinions to "panic" better?

Why can't we discuss the board's direction from a critical standpoint? I just don't get it.

 

I was moaning when we were playing like crap which in my opinion is fair. I wasn't moaning before a ball is kicked or the transfer window closed. If I think the club haven't done enough when it closes I will say so, but until then I am happy. As Fats has said 99% my posts aren't talking down to people. It's just I like to keep them shot due to my dyslexia. So if they appear abrupt then that's why. Even as I write this I am thinking **** how much grammar etc have I got wrong.

As for being a hypocrite, every one is. End of the day we are all Saints fans, I just don't get why people are always trying to see the negative. When we have no clue what is happening 99%.

Because we do not know the boards direction yet. We will only find out at the end of the transfer window. Then we will find out again at the end of the season.

 

Look, I'm not going to get drawn into an argument over semantics, because as a teacher you will beat me hands down. Just accept my apology over the "bed wetting" phrase and we'll agree to differ over the substantive point. In my opinion, there are a number of people who are panicking.

 

I personally think the concern is very premature. Hopefully that's not on your list of banned words now!

Give it another month and we've only signed youth players and splashed out £4m on a Rory Delap marquee signing, then I'll join you in that concern.

 

I never said it doesn't come from the club.

My point is when Les Reed says we don't have to sell players and we then sell players. People complain and say the club is embarrassing and shouldn't say anything.

If the club say they won't over pay and then break their transfer record, will you complain that the club are not embarrassing to seemingly say one thing and do another?

 

That doesn't explain why speculation and debate are invalid here in a forum. This is, after all, a "rumour" thread.

 

Somebody's going to come on this thread and think we're signing someone only to find pages and pages of in fighting. They will be so disappointed.

 

And in my opinion the critical brigade have posited valid points which deserve thought and debate. You only belittle yourself when you make these comments.

It's not invalid. I just don't see the point in worrying just yet. Like I said in my other post, if I feel we haven't made the right progress at the end of the transfer window I will say. But for the moment I trust Kat and the board. If they mess up, I will join in with the 'bedwetting' but doubt my gf will be happy about it.
